Wow, that's great!

Close your eyes watching that video and you'd think you were watching one of the 1980's Audi rally cars.
Be alert! America needs more lerts.

I'm sure those were much louder! We will be talking soon about hooking up the launch control...

It turns out that Tim was cognizant enough to take a pic of the rear muffler after it was installed. Its a work of art!

As you can see here, He has pretty much perfected the whole back purge tig welding. This is the hole saw "coin" from opening up the down pipe for the waste gate.

And, because I know this got posted on some version of social media... I do actually work on my own shit :P

This is how my luck goes... Putting gas in the car the other day, and noticed this...
Image

That's right! My windshield is cracked! Not sure when it happened, but it's in the lower PS corner. At least it's not in an inspection fail area. Hopefully I can find a new one to replace it.

On a different note, I finished my "mini can". I had to cut the original catch can in half to make it fit. There will be a section of 1/2" hose attached to the bottom to allow some volume of crap to be caught.
Image

Here it is on the last test fit before I finish welded it. Fits really well and not modification needed!
Image

Hopefully it works as well as I'm hoping. We shall see.

Not really a goal this year! I have put more mileage on the car this year then the entire time I've had the 20vt in the car! It just runs and works well!

I still need to find the diff lock boot, as I'm still loosing gear oil out of the rear diff, but that can wait for now. I'm probably buying a parts car in the near future... Is it bad that the body on the parts car might be in better shape than mine?

Oh, I'm also in contract to buy a house, with closing set for the 16th! It will be strange to have a garage of my own to work in!

WHAT?! CONGRATS DAVE! That is awesome. Having your own garage is the single best tool you can have for a project car. Careful not to let the driveway get too full though ;)

Thanks Shawn! The funny part is that there is an oversized 2 car garage, but there will be 4 cars already... and that doesn't count the probable parts car.

With Dad passing more than a year ago, mom needs to get out of that house. She will be moving in with my family, and the (very large) basement will be turned into an in-laws quarters. We will all feel better with mom being close.

This is my first try using a GoPro. I borrowed it from a co-worker, along with a couple tips. Came out ok I think. Please excuse the snow tire and suspension noise. I'm still trying to figure out what is making the noise in the rear suspension. :shame:

Did you know that a back fire through a really free flowing exhaust is extremely loud? To the point of sounding like a 10ga shotgun...

Ok, so not sure what is going on. This is twice in the past week, first time happened on Friday after my dentist appointment. It didn't back fire then, but it did seem to only be running on a couple cylinders, then die. Today I guess I tried too many times, and it back fired, really loud! I think my intake manifold is getting heat soaked badly when it's only shut off for a short period of time. Need to figure this out.

It would be a weird problem to all of a sudden cause issues, but is this during cranking you're getting back fires? Would be worth double checking your crank sensing during cranking, although I would guess with all the work you and Eric have done on the tune that's set up correctly. Worth a look anyway!

This only seems to happen when the engine sits for less than an hour after some highway driving. Actually, come to think of it, it only started after we switched to batch fire during cranking. I wonder if when the manifold is hot it's dumping in way too much fuel.

And as I expected, I let it cool off, and it started up no problem. It has to be something with the intake manifold getting heat soaked.

This is a common issue with the 20vt and, unfortunately, has no easy solution. People have tried heat shields, ceramic coating the manifold, etc, without much luck.

I am officially a home owner! Signed all the paperwork and got the keys and openers this morning! Very excited, except for the whole moving part... :P

Here are a couple external shots. Garage is a big enough to work in, so it will work out nicely.

Hopefully soon I'll be able to get some descent equipment in the garage so I don't have to be taking everything to work to do it.
