you have convinced me that 2 things are gonna happen:

1: when i get the block this weekend, i am going to start on my own fab of the mounts.
and
2: when the 4cyl Coupe mounts get here from England, i am not even gonna mess with them..

im personally stumped...this mount bolts right to the 058 block, its been done, and its just....not bolting up for me, lol. i would still USE the mount brackets as long as they bolt to the block....but just chop mount bracket 'ears' off the frame and move them and reweld them into place.

Same 01A box in the 90 is in the A4.

Issam you have done this right? So you probably know better than me, but don't those notches not line up in the 5cyl b3s? That would rotate the engine enough to sit that mount flat

that would be freaking solid, but that still doesnt help the fact that only two bolt holes line up with the mount that 'should' fit right onto the block.

could u get a 16v 1.8L block and just swap everything over or is not as simple as that? and would the 16v help?

Shouldve just started with an ABA block you guys. wouldaa save all this trouble, and youd have 2L's too. :oops:

John can you turn the mount around and take a picture for me?I am going to grab some pictures in about 3 hours when the sun is out of the bracket on my ABF block.

Suggestion: Get a jack,remove the driver side mount bracket and jack up the engine from the driver side until mount bracket #1 is horizontal with the mount.Let me know if that is possible.

ok....so with the first mount, if i have just the bottom bolt in solid, then use spacers on the two top bolts so that it doesnlt angle the mount as much and that should solve that problem. now, even if that happens, the mount on the car does not line up with the hole in the mount, which will be solved when i cut the two stock bolts off the frame, and drill two new holes in their place which would move then mount exactly where i need it in order for it to ALL line up nice and neatly.

how it sits on the stock bolts...

how it will sit once i drill two new nice holes and use different bolts...

got that thing to fit....ground off the bottom bolt hole a bit where it mounts to the block so it brought the mount a bit closer in to the block, so i was able to drill a hole and get it in the mount...

ok, youre right, lol. it does.

first, i wanted to flip the 034 mount around, but you couldnt cause it hit the frame underneath....so i got the die grinder out and took care of that...

then once that fit, you see that on the 034 mount theres one side with two holes and one is slightly elongated, so i made the other side that had one hole in it have one elongated hole, which allowed me to move the mount around a bit more. then once that worked out, the motor mount bracket pretty much lined up, so i just took the die grinder to that as well a bit and made fit perfectly, now i regret the first drill hole, but oh well, you live and you learn...

its in there and tomorrow ill start to mock up the drivers side...which is going to not be easy by the looks of it...

what i think i am seeing is you cut off the factory ears for the motor mount?

you are just making it that much easier for me to choose to just fab my own from the get go.

and i, too, will be using the 06A block. but the AEG 2.0L....

i get to do a bit more work, as i am also starting off with the 01E trans as well. motor and trans moving rearward..... haha. and shorter propshaft as well.

ya man, that drivers side mount was NOT fitting unless you started it from scratch, itd even be super tight if you ketp the stock ears and started with a mount bracket from scratch. at least i KNEW this brackets would bolt directly to the block and all that would work out fine...so i figured building ears from the frame would be easire then making a custom bracket...

Issam, those have this huge hole in them for some level sensor? can we get with no ginormous hole? i can fab a plate to cover, not a problem. just one more place a leak can form is undesirable, though.

and as for the intake, we are going to make one. i have a couple spare AEB IM's here.... was really thinking about incorporating an AW/IC into the plenum of the IM to keep the plumbing simple.. but in some little free time i am reading about IM's, plenum volumes, runner lengths, velocity stacks, tuning etc.

but i am going to wait til the motor is fully configured before i make it, so it is made exactly for what i want.

either that or get lazy and get one from Issam.... LOL i am leaving the 007 in the rabbit.

ya, im gonna go the chopped aeb runners+weld a plenum on route as well i believe. got my mount mocked up on the drivers side today, should be able to tack it all up sometime this week, then get my buddies welder here and get in in there solid.

started off with...

i attempted to make it all one solid piece, but that very quickly became a pita, so i made it two pieces that will be welded together by another piece that also will be welded to the frame for added strength.

this piece will be welded to the frame and also to both of the main steel pieces that hold the mount...

and this piece will be doing the same thing, but from underneath...

there is also a long triangular piece that will be welded to what you see above and below that will fill in that traingular looking gap...

im also not sure if ill be keeping the mount above the metal like in the pics, or putting it below like it was setup stock, but thats just a minor detail of grinding the metal out below for it to fit in there well...
