On my way to the machine shop to lighten my 7a Flywheel.... Will I notice an improvement removing 5-7lbs?...

I'd leave it as heavy as possible.

Yes! This.

Even more so after reading that you want easy drive-ability, and smooth clutch engagement.

The extra inertia of a heavy flywheel will help reduce the any shock on the crank, crank cog, timing assembly, etc. It also helps with launching.

That being said Matt has the 9lb aluminum tilton flywheel and I have the 29lb steel tilton flywheel and they drive nearly the same. Same clutch materials and springs too.

I was thinking along the lines of a Happy medium 18-19lbs...

Are you sure that unloaded, Matt's car isn't a bit more rev happy than yours Nick? ... I know that pedal effort and feel would be similar if not equal but once it starts engagement you probably need to feather more gas on Matt's car, no?

Believe me, I want some weight in my flywheel, but wondering if any small reduction would be noticeable...

Tell me i'm stupid, but I hope you didnt add a pin in front of the first one? Also, doesn't it measure from when the resistance ended (Ie the sensor will think you have less teeth, or your timing will be different?)

I'm sure you did your research... just saying since this is something not so easy to take out and replace hahaha! Can't wait to see this thing in action.

Not stupid to assume that all... the crank turns clockwise, so I placed it after the original pin. You can see the weld next to the pin I added.
In the end, compensation can be accomplished by way of the adjustable cam gear as well...

So did you add two extra pins? It really appears that way.

Hey not sure if youve already purchased a new pp but ive been running the SB stg3 daily with the Hd pp for about 3k miles now. The pedal feel is only slightly heavier then stock with really positive engagement. ita a tad grabby but not bad at all. Im only pushing around 300whp but around 330wtq. Hope this was helpful!

Input is always helpful... the question is, is it the stg3 on a AAN flywheel or 7a? ..
The 7a Stage3 kit doesn't use an HD PP, it's a 707...
the Stg3 kit for an AAN flyheel uses a "uprated" PP(called HD on some websites as well)
... which are you using?

yup but it's uprated more than the HD... 707>HD>Stock on 7A kits (approximately 900, 600, 300 tq rating)....

I've only seen "high clamp pressure plate"(stage 1&2) and "highly modified pressure plate" (stg 3&4) on AAN kits... None of these are 707's... It would definitely bump up the price by $600 bucks or soo..
.....(highly modified>high clamp>Stock in terms of clamping capacity)...

I have yet to see a 707 PP used on a AAN spec flywheel, the stack height would be way too tall I believe...

How soon would you want it?

I might be retiring the UrS4 from daily duties (read: scrapping) in favour of the 80.

Will do.

If you find one more local before then, go for it. I have the feeling shipping will be the major factor here, considering the distance.
