I would like to have both the bigturbo 4k and the TDI 4k. My life would be complete. Well... not really. But I'd be kinda happy with my old crappy Audi stable. lol

This has been a natural progression for me, I had this motor in my mkii for 4 years, pushing 180 hp and 300 ftlbs. It had no traction till 3k in 3rd...It only made sense to go bigger and put it in something where traction is a possibility. I'm hoping for just under 300hp and torque in the 500's, mileage in the high 40's as well. I plan on adding nitrous down the road as well...people in Europe are making huge power with this motor and I hope to do so as well. Progress has been slow, I rarely have free time and when I do I feel obligated to spend time with family. I'm planning on buckling down and getting some shit done. Stay posted.

It puts a step in a panel so you can over lap them rather then butt welding... Much easier to do.

Lol, I want to enter it in the truck pull at the county fair, they have a mini truck section. I don't think there could be a small truck that could beat it.

i saw a buick wagon compete in a pull once...it was pretty sweet. a diesel 4kq would probably blow my mind if i was at that pull.
around here the small truck class is 2wd....might have to weld you center diff for that.

post pictures of the bodywork as you progress. I'll be doing work on my 4kq over winter and could use some insight. Never done any major body work before

awesome. Have always wanted to make a drift quattro to play with...then swap back in 6 speed when you are ready to actually put down some power.

So I finally started cleaning the head that chaloux gave me yes free thirty thanks so much for that by the way! Now I'm debating pulling and replacing the valve guides, which means I'd have to get a valve job and the new guides honed or reamed...I want new ones because tectonics makes special guides for adding dual valve springs which I need apparently stock springs like to float around 38-49 psi which is my target...the question is can I get away with lapping the valves myself or do I really need the valves and seats cut?

Well just spent $400 on head parts, new guides, viton seals, dlc lifters, hd springs, and chromoly retainers. Now I've got to make some $ to buy the cam...started figuring out how I'm going to mod the hood, I'm going to sort of replicate an S1 hood.

Steve's 86 4kqTdi

Post by scubagli »

I just bought this, I figured I'd never see this again, and I feel it was super reasonable. Well I can't seem to put a link up, it's a 4000 new old stock lower front roll pan, bottom of the rad support. Just over $200 shipped from the UK.

you mean core support? Or is it also referred to a roll pan as well?
