If he's gonna go that far he needs to see Marc for some carbon love...timing cover, coil cover, fuel rail cover. Obi, I expect updated pics Monday evening.

Prepping my 91 M5 Dinan for sale to fund 07K and EFR build for my UrQ. May also sell Lotus Elan resto project. PM if interested in either.

Lol, you guys aren't kidding... The clean res now looks out of place since the moment I put it in... The carbon timing cover has been on my list but I hear rumors of inferior fitment with aftermarket cam gears? IDK...

Anyhow, today I spent time with other forum members for most of the day...
Was a really good time at 40's in a Bag....

I thought that shit was photoshopped it looked so clean.

The carbon timing cover has been on my list but I hear rumors of inferior fitment with aftermarket cam gears? IDK...

So ditch it. It's totally unnecessary, especially since your running VEMS.

No no... Not PShopped... Lol!,.. but what does running VEMS have to do with running a TBelt cover?

I thought it was p-shopped too lol.

Maybe he meant the cam gear is unnecessary, but I disagree since aftermarket ones tend to be stronger.

Thanks bud...

I've been trying to accomplish small things before the weekend...

I'll try 5ply reinforced Vibrant once...

Updated my head unit again for a unit with Bluetooth Stream. Was difficult to keep a classic look.

Nice upgrade on the silicone. If those blow, then it's time for some Van-jens :)

I have 2 25ft rolls of DEI Titanium Exhaust Wrap that was intended to cover the header and down pipe with... but I didn't as I wanted to see that shiny header and downpipe shine! Then rumors of wraps making welds weak but holding humidity ect... Just didn't know what to believe so I left it as is... The reality is that I really wish I would've done it. The hotside and downpipe side of things has actually made a sizeable hole in my passenger side fender liner. Plus 8 months into it and the "shine" is gone. So shielding or wraps/blankets are really a must have at this stage of the game. Van-jens are nice but I think I could prolong the life of silicone if I keep it around tolerable temps...

Oh and I can only imagine what this is doing in terms of heating up the fuel filter and the fuel running through it... just little things that can be improved...

Moisture in heat wrapped pipes is only a problem if the car is exposed to humidity and sits for a period of time. If the car is driven every day (or close to it), any moisture will evaporate within a few minutes of the engine running.

What Chris said. The adjustable cam gear isn't necessary with VEMS. While they might be stronger, I don't like having those extra little bolts in the gear. The possibility of one of them coming loose and, well...
Image

Note the 3 slots where there are no bolts. All three of them when for a tumble down to the cam gear area on the crank. I got lucky and discovered this in time as the belt was being shredded with each revolution. That gear came off my car and went back to 034.

Just make sure, if you didn't already, to use some loktite on them suckers!

personally I would take off the compressor housing and weld an extension onto it with some schedule 10 aluminum pipe. heat problem solved with regard to proximity to the header on that connection....

I thought about that too but then it'll offer very little to no flex to account for movement and will make any turbo/header swapping/R&R much more difficult, requiring bumper removal to get the the FMIC to remove that 1 solid piece. Unless I put another silicone piece further down...

BTW. When are you leaving to Carlisle?

I dont mean to remove any flex at all. I just mean to move the silicone coupler further from the header. it will still require a flex joint (and modification to your turbo outlet pipe of course).

leaving for carlisle early Friday.
