you're amazing!

yep, going to be tuning on this maf this week so we can have it as an option for 400+whp cars where the stock MAF can no longer meter.

So are you creating your own bin files and burning chips or writing directly to the flash memory in the ECU somehow? If that is trade secret info, then I understand if you can't tell me :).

We've reverse engineered the 'firmware' in the ecu as well as the hardware. using these big mafs requires some hardware mods inside the ecu as well. On the software side we use an emulated ecu with a definition file that allows us to realtime tune it just like a standalone box. When we're done with a tune we burn the file down to the dip28 chips.

That's awesome!! There needs to something like that for the ME7 stuff. Logging, tweaking, flashing, logging tweaking, flashing... Gets old.

Nice work as always Marc!

This is enough to make me drive to New England for a couple days. I've been wanting more power for a while, but the MAF was limiting me, as was my pussified attitude towards going SEM on my DD. I needs more info ASAP!! I'd like to clamp the waste gate shut and run my 3071r flat out before going bigger.

Prepping my 91 M5 Dinan for sale to fund 07K and EFR build for my UrQ. May also sell Lotus Elan resto project. PM if interested in either.

interesting discovery from last week's tuning at iroz on EFR turbos with E85. At high boost levels I was experiencing a cutout at 5k rpm I couldn't explain. Further testing and investigation revealed that there is a dwell limitation in the 2.3.2 Motronic ECU due to the way the hardware is built. there is a single pin on the microprocessor that is responsible for controlling dwell to all 5 coils. as a result its mathematically impossible for the ecu to send more than 4ms of dwell above 5k rpm. the coils on the test car required more than this to light the mixture off at 32+psi on E85 which meant we couldn't finish the tune. 2.0t coils wouldn't have this problem since they operate at lower dwell to produce the same spark energy.

just thought I'd share.

This was on OE AAN coils?

I wonder who sells a 2.0t coil upgrade ;)

Though 2.0t could operate at a lower dwell, one can theoretically still reach the limit of the ecu... albeit at a higher level of power...
