soooo, two weeks ago, on my first burnout, i shattered the left rear axle and shot it out the front of the car and down the track. never seen anything like it. as luck would have it, i have Janis' old axles for backups. so i put that in, and skip IFO so i made CERTAIN i had a car for one of my sponsors car shows, Pacific Waterlands. i ordered another one of the axles that the shaft is part of and it shows two days before the car show, so i leave the Janis axle in the car but bring the spare "just in case".

my first pass @ PWL, i launch really soft, revs drop to ~3500, and i run 9.41 @ 167 MPH!!!!! car was >46 psi for most of third gear, and peaked 46+ in 4th as well! every gear change spun the tires too!!! but little did i not realize at the time that spare axle was compromised i believe as i turned off the track. tight turn, locked rear/center diffs, big low psi sticky tires, pretty sure this is where it let go.

but i did not know the axle was broken, and i called qualifying good and waited until round one of the brackets. where i did this. almost hit the tree, and then went crazy in 2nd and crazier in 3rd. coasted 4th, kinda shaken, to finish the pass.

and this was what i discovered.

me and the two guys helping me, we busted our asses to swap out the axle, and just made it with about 15 minutes to spare to make another pass. where i ran 9.49 again leaving soft and bogging a little , for 163 MPH!!!! car is hauling major ASS up top for sure!!!! so i know the MPH wasnt a fluke.

so, i am torn right now. its in one pc right now. but i am getting the pricing together to put a 4-link and a Ford 8.8" rear end in the car over winter. i dont want to deal with something like this at 160+ MPH for sure.
