WTB GT35 Or equivalent turb
I've been doing some thinking in the last 24 hours and I was wondering if anybody had something fitting the bill of what I'm looking for. It's either going to be a used brand name turbo or I'll have to buy this:

Lol don't force my hand CUZ I WILL!
Either that or a gt3576R from there..

I thought Chris has been running a sustained 22 or 24 lbs on his 200 with this same turbo?

*Was* running 25-ish psi on my stock internals 3B for a few years. The car hasn't been driven in about 3 years, but that's because it has been down for the new build.
You can run a 3076 size turbo on a stock ur 5cyl. Just be conservative with boost and torque onset (Holset or 3076 are perfect for that purpose).

Something seems fishy about that... I'm thinking Chinese replica. It definitely didn't have a billet wheel either. One part of the ad says 56mm, the other 57. Weird.

That is nice. I may pick the seller's brain to see what he says about those points. It looks like that v-band plate disables the internal gate. That's how I'd go personally. Good eye dave thanks

I replied to get his take on those couple things Chris. He could say anything but it's worth a shot.
Aaaannd:
"Sorry, I relisted the first ad I had from back in September based on some info other sellers had posted on eBay.
I got my own info and they're 56mm
They're genuine government spec Holset turbos. I purchased them in a government auction. I also have 2 hx55 turbos with 19cm housings and soon 8 Switzer BHT3B turbos with 26cm housings. The Switzers are used in twin applications on 5.9 Cummins for 'towing twins' which makes very usable power across the RPM range because factory turbo is the small one used.
I sell on eBay and sold nearly 30 of these surplus hx35 since September: http://www.ebay.com/usr/hellcats_customs
They are 56mm billet compressor wheels. The turbine housings are 14cm.
Craigslist reduces the quality and blurs the machine marks. Below are different pictures I took. "

Re: WTB GT35 Or equivalent turb
I'm pretty sure that plate does not disable the gate actually. Why would the actuator be on there otherwise? If you don't want the internal gate, just take the actuator off and throw a tack weld on the flap for the internal gate. That's what I always do with Holsets.
That one is probably real the more I look at it, but I have never seen one like it. That's a nice pick-up, but I'd put a 12cm housing on it to be honest. You won't be able to utilize anything bigger than a 12 on a stock bottom end. It will pull all the way to 8k without drop-off in boost on a 12.
If you're on a budget, call Goldfarb and buy one for like $150, then if you want to be sure it won't need to be pulled off for a rebuild, just throw a
rebuild kit in it ($85, and you can do it at home on the bench). Then you're in for less than $250 for what is functionally a brand new turbo. It will be ugly compared to the new one, but you'd save money in the process and they could hook you up with one that has a 12 cm housing on it.

Re: WTB GT35 Or equivalent turb
Well this is going to show that I have no idea what I'm talking about. I thought that a billet wheel was cast or appeared as machined from a large piece and not those bent fins.

Re: WTB GT35 Or equivalent turb
I'm not really sure what you're talking about, but I'll try to explain anyway.
Cast and billet are very different. Cast is when you pour metal in a mold. Very little finish machining is done to a cast to get it into the shape you see. Billet parts are typically cut out of a solid hunk of (usually) forged metal. Either most or all of the shape comes from the machining which is why you see all of the machining lines on the part.
The disadvantages of cast parts are that they are weaker and thus have to be made thicker to compensate for this. That carries with it weight and aero penalties.
Not sure what you mean about bent fins, but those Holsets do appear to be Genuine and the compressor wheels are definitely very nice and billet. I have resisted the urge to buy one for now, but barely!

Re: WTB GT35 Or equivalent turb
Hah ya it's tempting. Thanks for that summary. We studied those processes during my MET degree days. I tgought maybe they could be made in both manners. I guess what I was referring to was that in those pics the cold side turbine appears to be sheet metal formed into the shape of a turbine. I haven't studied turbo manufacturing much so I may say some stupid thing lol. I understand what you mean about casting and now realize it wouldn't even be possible to use for a turbine. All good infoz tho!
Thinking back to drooling over the. I'll k26 iroz page, I recall those machining marks.
Also if I source a 12 cm turbo from goldfarb it probably wouldn't be much work to switch to the 14 at a later time anyway. Or will that also require a new exhaust turbine too? Don't mind my lacking lingo hah

Re: WTB GT35 Or equivalent turb
LOL I'd say you still misunderstood a bit.
The cold side "turbine" is actually called a compressor. It's only purpose is to put energy into (compress) air. A turbine is something which extracts energy from airflow which is what the hot side of the turbocharger does.
Casting is actually the most common way to manufacture turbine and compressor wheels, so you misunderstood me there haha. Billet is a more recent development when it comes to turbochargers. You will not find a turbo with any wheels made from sheet metal. Now, small fan blowers and things like that, that's a different story.
The turbine housings on all H1Cs and HX35 are directly swappable. However, you will not make much use out of a 14 cm on one of our engines. Unless we are talking about running 35+psi at 8k+ RPM, you will not need anything bigger than a 12 cm housing on a 3B. If you want to go bigger at that point, it would be prudent to use something more HX40-sized.

No but seriously I'm glad you cleared all that up. I found an equally tempting turbo for sale but I'm afraid of I post it someone will sweep it up
