aftermarket rod bearing fitment
aftermarket rod bearing fitment
i've been working on assembling another AAN i realized something strange with the clevite rod bearings i picked up. the clevite bearings do not fit the rod or the cap snugly like the OEM ones do, i can slide the clevite right out with no resistance. also i had a set of ACL rod bearings that came out of a 7A engine i dismantled for parts so i fit the ACL's and they fit snugly like the OEM. all of these bearings are labeled as standard bearings, nothing over sized or under sized. the rods have never been line bored and the crank itself has never been machined either. have you guys ever seen something like this with clevite bearings or any aftermarket bearing for that matter? i guess i could plastigauge all of them and see what sort of numbers i come up with but i figured i'd ask the community first. also clevite is a division of mahle and if i recall most OEM pistons and other misc bottom end parts are mahle so thats why i chose clevite.
