For the past few years I've been planning and slowly picking up parts for a 20vt, I've flaked on a couple 90q's because of unforseen circumstances in my financial situation as well so this build has been really in the planning/backburner phase.

Anywho, I picked up a 20v MC2 block from Yoda with the intentions of using it to build a 20vt with it. Luckily we are neighbors so I was able to go pull it apart and haul a bare block across the street to my garage, but I just realized I DIDNT KEEP THE MAIN BEARING CAPS.

How screwed am I? I know some domestic engines can have them replaced but I'm seeing the general consensus of it not happening for this engine in particular.

'one of those things'. technically they are machined specific to each engine. in practice, you can get away with bolting some up from a spare engine. worst case, you could align hone them to be 100%. If I were in your shoes, I'd buy some spare caps, torque them down and run a dial bore gauge down the main line to make sure its straight. if its not sraight, off to a machine shop to align it up for you.

Depending on how much you want to spend, get some billet caps and a line bore. If not, throw some caps with bearings, the crank, and bolt them all down and plastigauge them. If within specs and the crank spins freely, you should be ok. I've done that before with replacing broken cam caps

I did the same thing the first time I tore my small block Chevy motor down.

just get one with the matched caps and not worry/waste time and money machining shit that's so easily replaceable

just get another block, I have a 7a block in VT $50 if you want it, im sure there are many others closer to you. Def going to be cheaper than having it line honed.

Yea it just sucks. I need a 2.2 block in order to put these AAN pistons to use tho so a 7A won't work for me.

On all engines you can replace them... but on all engines you need a minimum of a line hone, and sometimes a line bore. Which makes the crank sit higher in the block and you MAY have oil pump and rear main seal issues, and you need to address your piston to deck heights if you really had to go to town.

Well I forgot to update, but Kuma came to the rescue and let me know he never threw the originals away because he never got around to it so thanks for the info everyone, I definitely love learning about new things like this lol.
