Re: Rubi - Cam Sensor Disintegration

Ok, here's the latest,.. though it's not much, it's the reason why there hasn't been much movement here as it sat during winter...

Tried to straighten it out...

New Sensor

Image

Also have a new steering rack to pop in there once it's back up and running...
Have been looking at catch can options lately too (would be the topic we should have at the moment guys),... then Dyno?... (if the clutch holds better after stopping that rack leak directly above the bellhousing)...

Still in the middle of my coilover conversion along with a 310mm Rear BBK I've been piecing together...

Mechanically that's about it other than my eyeballing the next turbo upgrade which could feasibly happen if they get there lead time down to under 18 days...

Minor body work is also in the works... (those that know the car know of the blemishes I speak of) and will be done after Carlisle along with other interior stuff such as the headliner and sunroof panel switch.

If CPS and Rack are done this weekend, Carlisle is a GO for me, even though it won't look like it did last year... haven't detailed it this year...

DUDE my Tommis cam gear had the same (unrelated to CPS) issue as yours. look at the polished "ring" on the back of your gear. Outside the adjustment bolt holes. Your CPS bracket mounting bolts are rubbing against the cam gear right there. I ground down my bolts to be a round cap head instead of a squared off head. it will prevent any interference. No idea how your CPS puked its guts out all over the place though. Good luck wiring the new partial sensor up. Mine only lasted a year before my splices all heat cycled to death. I got a full unit to install so I'll never have to worry about my shitty soldering biting me in the ass again. any idea how that CPS got creamed?

I'd have to say that it might have been a bit broken/cracked before install... not really sure...

I didn't notice the bolts to be that round...

Well Mr. Mushasho, the weather has just recently broke the 60's barrier finally and you know what that means? Izzy my 'project' B7 gets first dibs and she is almost done. My priorities have shifted to a multitude of items lately with a huge detail on the docket soon! :D

These peeps ought to know I detailed your black Passat wagon you sold. Not to mention Rubi`, the Rubi` in your sig pic...such luster!

If a spot opens, I'll get a hold of you!

I'd be leery of above ground storage myself.

So, maybe I missed it but what did you do to get back up and running again? Fresh rebuild, or running motor swap?

The man behind the glass windows wasn't very informative when I asked if they plan on getting it back... but hey they were over priced as it was... Burke in Chelsea had it cheap at $2.39/gallon
