what? no Spa?
im glad you went with the butt-weld method. homegrown turbo headers are a big part of a turbo build, i think. and are a part that actually make a motor sexy.
looking good. very good. keep up progress and maybe itll be before springtime, huh?? :bullshits:

thank you. and you should, its much more rewarding to see your own work in there as apposed to someone elses, not to mention it looks baller compared to a cast mani. :-D

vagrant, how did you weld your header? TIG? I like it
Zerb, are you finishing the welding on yours? I notice it says 'Vibrant' on the header piping, where did you get it?

hmmmm. i wanna see it on the car. give me some ideas. i think i want mine more towards the front of the motor.
and it looks like it warped the crap outta the flange. you may need that doctored up some.... mine on the rabbit was that way....

holy shit! hes right. that head flange looks like its out 3/8"!
you gotta bolt those things to the head, turbo and wastegate when there gtting welded. i saved both the head and wastegate flanged from warping at all by bolting them down.

the flange that sits on the head is perfectly flat, it was machined after it was all welded up. it was done with it bolted to a spare head that i borrowed from someone, but it still did end up warping just a bit.
i might put the head back on the block and take some pics with it this weekend, but i pulled it off last week and started disassembling it.

i get all my mandrel bends from columbia river mandrel bending.
look them up on google or yahoo and you'l get there web address. super good deals on everything from 1 1/2"-4" in mild, aluminized, stainless and aluminum.
there 3" aluminized "exhaust kit" is like $70 and is composed of 2 90*bends, 245*bends, and 2 180* horseshoe bends all in 6" radius i believe. thats is enough to do our whole downpipe and exhaust system. you just need some straight lengths and 3-4 V-bands and your set. cheapest prices on V-band assemblys too.

sweet man, thanks. ill have to look and see if thatll be cheaper then what i pay at work....cause some items (such as misc exhaust pipe) i just get through napa for pretty cheap.
