This weekend's job was to clearance the rear fenders and box them. This way I can drive the car without the rear body work to widen it and when I'm ready for the widebody this will already by clearanced and sealed. Finally getting the hang of welding the thin body sheet metal with the overkill MIG welder I borrow. TIG would be nice.... oh well.

First cut the outer sheet metal for size. Cut as close as I could do the door. Would like to keep the rear doors functional to make the car easier to work on.

Then I pounded the inner sheet metal up and cut any extra.

Welded it all up and spray bombed it for now.

If you have any of the old jetta fender covers, I'd be curious to see what those look like on there, and they may make a more aesthetic short term cover than just leaving the fenders as is.

If you flip back a few pages I've got all the fiberglass pieces. Just not wanting to go down the road of mounting it yet until I work out all the bugs to get a solid driver. I'm not too concerned with aesthetics for now.

Been making some progress. 3.5" exhaust is mainly done and pedal area is done with dead pedal, adjustable heel stop, etc. I'm working on buying a house so I've been packing up my garage to move. That means things are going to stall for a few months.

Also got a job at Bosch motorsport and working on a 5 cylinder of sorts. I'm currently working on the V10 SRT Viper ALMS car. Fun stuff and fun motorsport parts to collect for my car :-)

I think Sean O'Shea just took a job in your group as well. He's a cool guy and drives an Elise. I'll be back at Bosch on Monday working at BEG.

Yeah, Sean should be starting soon. Congrats on coming back to Bosch, the new BEG building is nice.
