Yes, the connecting piece is on its way from Audi Tradition.. it is magnetic so when you close the hood it maintains the seal with the airbox.
Very cool setup.

Your should build a group A replica so you can still have 20v.

Very cool Martin! I can't wait to see this finished one day. It's going to put a huge smile on all of our faces :)

So, a lot has happened since last post.
Unfortunately none of it pertaining to this project.
However last weekend she is off to the body shop to get the chassis welded up and all of the body work completed. Something I lack skill in and patience.

How she sat for last 4 or so years

Some progress.

So the B-pillar cut I performed was a little too optimistic.
Lucky me I had couple new inner pieces (full length) for reference.

Once the B-pillar is established it will get located on the rocker panel and welded in.

Is that how they built them ? THe production ones?

It’s going to be super cool for you- at least I imagine you still have at least one long wheel base URQ too? Having the ability to drive swb and lwb for long enough to really get the feel for them and dial them in and compare . I’ve never driven one of the short cars. Some of the videos you see just looks like a handful . Like the dahlback one just looks so awesome

I had a privilege of driving a shorty at UPG 25 in Colorado thanks to Dean T.
It was like a dream come true.
Obviously I did not push the car to its limit but got enough sense to "feel" what it's like.
It does feel a lot like a 20v ur-q power wise albeit a lot more laggy and punchy (like a 20v).
Better handling IMHO i.e. better turn in and more responsive.
Awesome brakes, even though my '85 urq has SQ front calipers having 4 pistons at all 4 corners makes it that much better.
And the windshield angle, just so much better than ur-q which feels like you are wearing the sun visors on your forehead.
And the complete dash with extra gauges where you need them... all Ur-q afterwards should have had that dash.

Anyhoo, can't wait to have that feeling again.
