Audi CQ with 3b or 07k with DSG Transmission

Post by Zaworek »

hi

I wanted to get some wisdom and input from you guys if this could work.

Since i have spare full s2 chassis i wanted to build another coupe but with something different. I already have build one with 3b swap with 6 speed. This time i wanted something different.

General idea was to use either 3b or 07k motor and use one of those DSG quattro transmission for the build. All i see that the people are getting more powerful with the engine and still use the 01e 6 speed. Did any of you used any of the DSG quattro transmission out of the new s4, rs5 etc and also possibly adapt different suspension? The DSG transmission should be much quicker for the 1/4 strip.

Thank you
Sebastian

I have pondered the same thing, but the electronics involved might be a deal killer. You would have to adapt the ECU to use a 5cyl, figure out timing cuts, etc and probably use drive by wire. It could be done, but most don't have that talent. Then again it's just money!

Varia

Thank you for The Articles. The only difference is that the car already had DSG transmission.

In my case I would be swapping in a DSG which requires more work.

Let keep this conversation alive and see if any one had more experience with the DSG.

Are we strictly talking a longitudinal setup?

+1, I've thought about it too (even in just a 2wd setup) and haven't been able to find a good aftermarket DSG controller yet, or at least not at a reasonable price. I think you're pretty much SOL on trying to use the OEM stuff unless you're a software engineer. Otherwise it's probably a $10k+ adventure for just the trans/controller.

If you're adventurous, the Megasquirt guys have a transmission controller. It doesn't do dual-clutch yet but someone just asked a question about using it with a Ford Focus DCT and got a favorable response (as in, they're interested in trying to make it work). I've worked with the guy who develops the software for that thing on a couple of projects and he's very open to new ideas and good to work with.
