Thanks. My wife should credit for the photograph.
Yep it's the start of a spit, I need to replace the complete floor!

Oh hell yes, those guys know how to fabricate stuff!
I'm way off getting to that stage yet, but I need to make a brace for the shell when the floor gets cut out though.

Wow, that's going to be a real project! Should be awesome when its done though. What's the game plan for suspension, drivetrain, etc.?

Yep whole floor is coming out, including the rocker panels (called sills in England).
Need to strengthen the shell with square section tubes for that, that's next.

Also toying with the idea to space frame the floor and do a carbon/honeycomb panel floor.
It may even be cheaper than buying the pressed steel floor..

The engine will be Yamaha r1 or fz1, in the front, FWD.
Chain drive to a mini diff and driveshafts, and a starter motor for reverse.
Or make my own drop gearbox and eliminate the chain...

Suspension wise I'm ditchin the stock rubber cones and going to be coilovers, so I'll be changing the rear subframe to a lighter simpler beam.

There's not much more to them than that...
I've had a few of them in England, I even turbo charged one, very fun :-)

There's a couple companies do motorcycle conversions and kits.
http://www.zcarsuk.com/store/
Mostly RWD rear engined. Quite radical concept.

http://www.lynxae.co.uk/Products-MiniR1.htm
Front engined FWD
And
http://www.pro-motive.co.uk

Lynx and pro-motive have the engine opposite ways around. Quite interesting people's different approaches to same engineering problem.

Either way 170hp and 6 speed sequential transmission in a 1100lbs car that has go-kart handling is going to be fun!

Oh yeah the shell is light enough to lift with 2 people, needed 3rd person to help lift ol high enough onto rotiserrie.
it cost me $80 to make rotisserie Vs $1500 for a steel one by harbor freight etc...
