My Daily Driver

Post by urs4guy »

My second Hot Rod Audi is also my daily driver. This car was also built by Dave Jones of S-Line Motorsports with consultation, welding and tuning by Brendan Rudak. Performance and lore:

677hp/576tq uncorrected at the wheels on E85 at the Bluewater Performance Dynocom chassis dyno. The best lap time at High Plains Raceway is 1:58.8 with track tires. Yes, even with limited slip at all 4 wheels, the tires do break loose at times. Although somewhat highly strung, this car has proven to be ultra-reliable. It is my daily driver and track car. With E85 I run 35 lbs of boost on the street. The dyno runs were with E85, NOS blowing across the front of the intercoolers and that same 35 lbs. The ride is somewhat stiff but still comfortable enough for street driving. The car is an absolute blast to drive and beckons you behind the wheel.

Thanks:

I have to thank, first of all, my main mechanic and fabricator Dave Jones of S-Line Motorsport. In addition I’d like to thank Brendan Rudak for some beautiful welding and fabrication work. He also handled the tuning of the 034 standalone EMS. Thanks again to these two professionals who can make dreams a reality. God bless.

I'd love to see a comparison (video, maybe??) of both your cars doing a 60-130 mph run.

Nice car, what a sleeper!

No kidding. Most recent iteration of the monster should kill it though.

That does set up an interesting comparison. There is more to be had with the daily driver but I am very happy with moderate level of tune vs performance on the silver car. 810 crank hp is nothing to sneeze at. That car only weighs 3270lbs which gives it a 4.04 pound per hp ratio. The Monstah gives you a 3.59 ratio. The Veyron only gives a 4.29 ratio so on paper both these cars should be able to give a Veyron a run. Da Monstah will eventually overpower the silver car but the hole shot belongs to the silver car. I just love to bar stool race.

Weight makes a huge difference until it turns into a horsepower thing. My 4k with "only" 360-400whp felt just as fast if not faster than dad's S6 with 465whp. But I can pretty much guarantee that the S6 would have killed the 4k at 100mph due to drag and HP advantage. A dig or up to ~80mph would be a different story. 2800lb vs 3800lb is huuuuge

But regardless, the point is that both cars are dayum fast, crazy, and that this is a hilarious "reliable" dd for you. I wish I could be in such a position!

These kinds of comparisons are why I like the 60-130 times. Gives a good idea of midrange and top end. At speed.

Plus, 6speedonline.com has that list.
