i'm gonna bet that you get a lot of P/S harmonics with it mounted solidly to the fender well there

I ran out of that type of steel so thats only half the bracket.

All I can tell you is that the tool is a bubble flare type and the line was bought from a FLAPS (friendly local auto parts store) in Manchester NH.. I want to say Sanel (spelling?) auto parts.

Alrighty, took today off from work because I had a crap load of parts to put on the car and I wont be able to work on it this weekend as I'll be at my cousin's wedding on the cape.

Made some decent progress today :woowoo:

Power steering pump bracket is finished and powdercoated. I think I'll be putting a heat shield in there too to help deflect the turbo heat. Note the copious use of rubber bushins DEREK :-P







I also did quite a bit of work on the intake plumbing. I 'made' room for the new mitsu eclipse intercooler for the passenger side turbo by raising the support bar that runs between the frame rail and the front core support area:





Here's an 'overview' shot of how the intake plumbing is going:



The drivers side turbo plumbing is all set, all thats really left is to connect the mitsu intercooler to the drivers side turbo with a very short ~60 degree piece of mandrel pipe and then a 90 degree exit which will parallel the pipe you see connected to the FMIC from the drivers side turbo. At that point, those two pipes will come into a 'y' that will join the 3" pipe straight ahead.

On the exhaust, here's a preview of coming attractions



All thats left to do there is to hook up a 90 degree down turn after the exhaust valve (Or I might run a pipe all the way out in standard 'side pipe' fashion, not sure yet. I will then transition the 3" pipe back down to the factory 2 1/4" pipe and connect it up to the stock CQ rear box. Stealth, anyone?

In other news, Dennis hooked up an FMIC on his car, I let him use an intercooler I had test run on my wagon, fit pretty good on the A4.

I like the cut-out dealie on the exhaust, I want to do that with my rabbit project! Marc, do you know if an inspection station will raise hell with that? Or are you going to do some sneaky V-bandage on the cut out? Sounds kinda redundant now that I think about it.

Oh, and anotha question, are those MR2 pumps compatable with ATF or only the green stuff? Sorry if this is buggering up your thread Marc, feel free to delete it :wink:

doubt it, especially if they cant see it!

My inspection station.. how should I put it.. doesn't ever lift the car off the ground or take any of the wheels off. I go to the same place every year

atf works fine. I'm running a complete 4kq power steering system minus the pump so everything else is all ATF compatible too.

time for an update.

Worked on the car a bit this weekend mixed in with other projects. Got the radiator support bracket powdercoated. The whole thing wouldn't fit in my oven so I did the only sensible thing to do. Cut it in half :tard:





I've finally got the majority of the intake plumbing tacked together. here's the y-pipe with side mount intercooler removed



and in place (no, it isn't touching the alternator):





next step will be to finish the last short section between the intercooler outlet and the y-pipe. After that, I need to finish the rear section of the exhaust.. and then.. and then.. ugh.

the factory heater core pipes are in a tough spot to make clean hose connections to the two outlets on the engine water pipe, so I need to take it back off and cut 45 degree mitres into the ends so I can angle them back 90 degrees toward the firewall to make a nice semi-straight shot for the hoses.

tacked in a little bling bling while I was at it



today I stopped by a hydraulic hose shop and had them make up the hose I need for my MR2 pump. The Napa I had dropped it off at before gave up on the project.

For the archives, the MR2 power steering pump has 16x1.5mm threads, same as the steering rack threads
