Thanks!^
On another note, this is a pretty good indication you had an oil temp problem...
SORRY_ cant find the photo anymore...
That was the shroud around the oil pickup tube....

Re: The Rally Car
I believe a sudden loss of coolant was the root of the problem.

Re: The Rally Car
Well that and I finished the stage and tried to make it back to service.... But yes there is a cooler. I've spent some time watching sealant dry around the oil pan tonight. Going driving again tomorrow. Jared, get yours going!Mcstiff wrote:I believe a sudden loss of coolant was the root of the problem.
At a certain point my co driver and I:
Me "Do you smell smoke?"
Co Driver "No"
Me "you sure?"
Co Driver "keep driving"

"Keep driving."

Re: The Rally Car
I've got some 034 bushings in the control arms, and I'm running through my stock of good OEM trans and engine mounts. When I run out (I'm a cheapskate and bought a box of 5 or so sets of new mounts from some garage in boise for like 10 bucks) I'll snag a set from HPR. I'm not sure that all the bushings need the thought and effort you are putting into them when other areas are going to require some thought and foresight. Like radiator ducting, and strut mounts. Get some reasonably priced Delrin bushings (old guys say that the poly ones wear faster) and go drive.
Motor is all back together, Drove it quite a bit giggling the whole time. Steering rack needs some attention next.

Re: The Rally Car
So I haven't updated this for a bit....
managed to do some racing in someone else's car for Oregon Trail Rally-

I had a blast, but I much prefer the drivers seat. I've been driving the rally car on errands and sunday drives recently. Finally have entered another rally- Mendocion coming up in July. (anyone have a cool suit I can borrow
)
Car drives like a champ, needs some time on a dyno but VEMS has been reliable and a wonderful to use. Currently shopping for a car trailer, and finishing home construction projects.
I also tried to fix a whole bunch of pictures in the first pages. Hopefully they all work now. Let me know if they don't
