O1E in a V8Q?

Post by scubagli »

I know the search button...I've been searching here and that other site for 3 days...I've seen you can use a 200 or 5k donor. I'm wondering what you can do to make an urs 5spd work, since I have one sitting here...it seems v8s4 trans mounts will work? Or there was a euro v8q 01e 5spd, but what I really need to know is has anyone done this swap? If so what's the recipe? Axles, prop shaft, I think I can figure the rest out...
Thanks for any links or help, I really like this car but fear the transmission is going.

well they exist in factory form. so the real question is how fast do you want to get this done. basically for extra $$$, you could ship in trans mounts, linkage, front axles, driveshaft, interior manual shift boot area stuff, pedal cluster, master and slave cyl.

and a 10bolt flywheel, clutch, PP etc

are you starting with an autobox or a 016 5speed?

that said im SURE there are a lot of parts in the USA that you could use.

if you can get the car partially torn down and take a bunch of measurements, im sure we can solve the driveshaft and axle parts, with swapped parts or potentially, spacers

linkage can be made (hybridized) w/o issue, urS stuff can prob be modded to dropin

t44 pedal cluster might work with some massaging

itll be a lot easier to ship mounts, and interior bits vs a driveshaft and axles/linkage etc

all in all, it really depends on how long you can take the car off the road, less time = spensive, long time = a lot cheaper

O1E in a V8Q?

Starting with an auto. Shorter = better... Hopefully the auto will hold up until I get the 4k road worthy again.

I have a set of brand new never mounted factory V8Q transmounts. Makes it a bolt in affair. You can get most of the parts from an Urs4 like driveshaft, and shift linkage. You'll also need to weld the top of the tunnel for the shifter base. 200 20vt axles with the Iroz spaver and you should have everything ready. IIRC the mounts can be order new still or look on ebay.de there have been a few sets.

which is the best and easiest route to going manual :)
