I love the pulley.. Nice work for sure.. There's little doubt that you'll get better belt performance with the wider deeper grooved setup.

Nice job on the pulleys and the balancer.
Now get everything to you machinist for balance. :-)

Too bad Marc no longer has the forged version available, that was a nice piece
Thanks Ed, I'll go that route if forged ones don't happen in time

How about an update Hank.
I heard you had some great help yesterday and accomplished a lot.

Sorry for the quasi-off-topic again, but I have confirmed that I won't be stepping on any toes. I'll try to move it along as quickly as possible. Contact me for info as I know I can't post it here. They will not be associated with any company that has produced or currently produces gears like this.

Stopped by and saw Dr. Iroz at the lab, looks like his patient will pull through!

the beautiful block

never seen a 5 cyl thermostat hole this clean

also never realized that with the stroker you could see the difference at the top part of the head, look at all the extra space before the threads start!

shiny

stock length rods vs stroker rods

Hank, sorry I got back to you so late, I forgot I even posted that. This is the immediate effects of my job. Yes, genuine was the place I got mine. Seemed like the only place for the money.

Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
Well, I dropped Kate off at the airport and then rushed to the shop to start the big push with around 65 hours till departure. I ran into a main cap issue when I went to put the bottom end in. It needed to be line bored although time was short. I opened it up 3 thousanths to get a good high performance clearance. In went the coated mains and rod bearings.

I then slid in the pistons I had gapped and set ring order so I could install them. After plastigauge, I slid them in.
I put in the ferrea valves with the high rate springs after cutting new seats.

Moved onto the new accessory location. I wanted the alternator away from my vr sensor and I also wanted to put a vr6 ps pump on. They are not quite the pressure of the AAN but more than the urq. 100 bar should motivate my quick rack nicely.

Finished off the header and egt mounts. I am pleased

More to come tonight!

ahhhhhh! I confess lust! Looks nice, Hank!
Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
Hank, that looks ridiculously awesome. Those EGT ports remind me... I need to talk to you about that. I know you are going to hate me for it, but I think those would be a good idea for me

Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
wow, looks like a million bucks Hank. what is up with that idler for the timing belt - using it to tune in the timing belt that you are using?
I am seeing why you have not gotten back to me on that intake manifold. You are a busy guy. I hope all is well with you and yours.

sick hank! Since the wife is leaving, I know where you'll be all day everday, that cot at the lab will come in handy for powernaps!
Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
Yes!!! Looks awesome. Like I said, I would love to come down and help, but the wife is on the verge of committing murder as it is.

Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
That is some serious weight reduction on that crank!
Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
Yea, looking good Hank. I agree with Chris...that is some swiss cheese work on the crank. We've always said that when you start with a diesel crank that is balanced against beefy rods and pistons (read heavy) that when installing and balancing against lightweight components the weight has to come from somewhere. I like it.
I bought all the bungs to weld in an EGT per runner, but in the end I settled for one bung/TC on the #5 runner. Looks good however. Are you planning on running all 5 at the same time and scan the bunch or just cap and be able to roll a single TC when wanted? It would be nice to be able to scan and have the readout be either high or average, but it would be another piece to buy. What's out there to be able to datalog a half dozen at the same time?

Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
Yeah Chris, they took out a ton of weight on the crank. Figure that the rotating mass was a little over a pound lighter than diesel pistons and rods plus the weight to offset the crank tool on the pulley that I deleted... Hopefully this engine is the free reving 2.6L I desire.
Dad, there are some cool EGT monitoring devices out there, but they are pretty spendy. I think i will run the Innovate Aux Box which gives you one TC, and then daisy chain their TC-3 controller which is essensically 4 TC inputs for a total of 5 with the Aux Box. This will all just dump into Log Works. I'll figure out which cylinder generally runs the hottest based on the dyno runs and then place the single TC that is hooked up to my gauge to that cylinder for monitor. I think it is a little overkill for my scope to have 5 45$ TCs hanging out ont he manifold at all times, plus Chris B is on my butt to tidy up my engine bay

Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
Nice work. Did that crank work out ok for you? Still 95.5?
Re: Hanks 612whp URQ: painted engine bay
your block worked out great, but the crank was a little too beat to feel comfortable using it in this application!! I think I found another crank to make a complete unit! Yes, this is still 95.5.
