I've got a lavalier mic coming today, should do the trick. I need to experiment with different mic locations to get the best sound / least wind noise.

What about inside the passenger fender, maybe attached to the A/C hard lines?

Ya, I'm gonna try somewhere over by the turbo for some whooshy noises, try tucking it down by the exhaust cutout or on the rear bumper

One thing is for sure - VEMS does not like having a flaky throttle position input... TPS stopped working this morning for some reason and the car was barely drivable. Removed it, spun it a few times by hand, everything seemed fine - moves smoothly and I could hear the idle switch clicking. Reinstalled and everything was back to normal. Weird. It wasn't the connector either. Gonna swap it with a spare tonight.

Did some testing with the new mic last night. Tucked it into the rear driver's side wheel well, about 6" from the exhaust cutout, sounds great. Will continue to experiment with different mic placements.

Car is just bonkers right now...it gets loose all the way through the top of 2nd gear :o . I love this time of year for driving.

if it thinks your tps is 0, it will enable overrun fuel cut if you have that setup. If its 'twerking', it will cause spurious accelleration enrichment pulses. both of which dont help driveability.

Today I learned that twerking has more than one meaning.

Yep, that's what I assumed was going on. I do run overrun fuel cut. TPS was sticking at 0, but also sometimes jumping up and then not going back down to 0 at idle, so that made idling interesting. Plus it was still in warmup enrichment too, so it was all over the place. Ripped around at lunch and it's back to normal now *shrug*

She's low. Looks great.

Also posted this on qw - do you happen to remember what kind of duty cycle your injectors were up to on your 30r setup? You were on 60lb/630cc injectors right?

Had to register on this forum to ask this question, a no brainer though for this car.

Love the photos and short video clips in the first page.

Ed, you didn't mention the spec of the wheels and the tyres in this thread ?

Also, what is an EDU gearbox out of ?

Coolest looking urS car I've seen in a very long time.

Thanks.

Thanks! Weather is starting to get a bit warmer so I could use a kick in the butt for my car projects...

The current wheel/tire setup is 18x8.5 et35 wrapped in 255/35/18.

And the EDU gear box came out of a C5 A6.

Same, this winter has been brutally cold. It was 24* this morning when I got in the car, which actually feels decent to me. (I guess I've gotten used to sub 10* mornings? :idunno: ). Gonna be creeping into the 40s-50s here this week

Thanks for replies.

Is the EDU box stronger or the same as a CGR S2 gearbox ? Thinking of the first gear in particular.

Are the ratios the same, or how do they differ if not the same ?

Did you have to tweak the car's wheel arches to make these rims / tyres combo fit ?

The 5th/6th gear ratios are slightly different between EDU and CGR. Click here for more info: http://12v.org/urs/charlie_smith/01E/

Besides the ratios, some CGR boxes have the flexible main shaft, while EDU boxes do not. Both have the wide first gear.

CGR # <= 43795 got the normal main shaft (01E 311 105J)
CGR # > 43795 got the flexible main shaft (01E 311 105H)

Al CRB (RS2) boxes got the flexible main shaft.
