Also, just read back a post that you threw two alternator belts.. been having the same problem, did you find a fix for that?

notch the adjust bar a tad a get a belt that's so tight you have to wedge it on. I went down in size (10mm smaller) and bought a good belt (gates) when I was having this same issue with my 3b 4kq, and all was fine

I replaced the belt. Sorry. Not much help there. My belt was actually bent I guess you could say. when you pulled it and looked at the side of it, it wasn't straight so it would just fly off super easily. I think over tightening did it.

Okay. So Among the current issues of super sloppy suspension and boost leaks. I need to decide something.

I just rode in a buddies stage 3 b5 s4, my other friend just got his 08 wrx tuned for more boost with his new large turbo. So I'm kind of feeling the itch for more power.

My issue is deciding on a turbo.

Budget wise a billet k26 is in the range of what I want. But am I going to regret not going bigger once I have a built bottom end and can push the limits of it?
I've been thinking about holsets but running a T3 flange makes it hard since I really don't want to run a shitty 034 log manifold, nor can I afford a header from Hank. So staying kkk flanged is kind of what I'm stuck with for the time being.

I've had precision turbos reccommended with a kkk flanged hotside, but that's about the price of a garrett, and why buy a garrett or precision to only be limited by the tiny exhaust A/R of the stock manifold/kkk flange?

Can anybody enlighten me a bit on a good path to start with?

I believe that Precision turbos are an AWESOME budget turbo. How much power do you want? Have you considered a Precision 5558 with the K26 hotside (comes as .82 A/R). I think that would be a super fun turbo on your car.

You can get a nice T6 compound turbo off of a Combine for about $1000 :)

Thatll make more power than you ever hope for

I guess I never actually researched precisions at all. Doing research does a lot of good it turns out.
That is actually quite literally exactly what I wanted.
Guess I'm going precision then.

Thanks a lot, Ben! :bangshead: :D

Seems like you have a good path to go down, but I wanted to comment on what you said about the 034 log manifold. You KNOW I am not the one to ever support 034 in any way, but that log manifold is just fine. It will last forever because it is heavy and thick as anything and it has a T3 flange on it. I'm sure there wasn't much design involved, its made in China, and it probably doesn't flow much more than the stock manifold... and the wastegate position sucks, BUT it will work just fine for a pretty good price. Just wanted to make sure you know that the option is there. It does sound like the k26 precision is pretty sweet though.

My issue is having to then buy a tial wastegate and then make a downpipe. Which also makes it kind of cost prohibitive.

I hear ya, those are valid reasons. A Holset, Tial, and downpipe would cost you less than the Precision, but yeah... Precision makes some nice flowing turbos. I'm too scared to use one on any of my cars though. There is a reason I keep going back to Holset and will be using one for my 635. I'd use one for the 200 too, but they don't make one for what I want to do.

So. Busy right now. But heres some photo spam.

Had a suspension disaster on the way home after hitting a cattle guard at about 80. Kinda surprised it wasn't worse the way it felt hitting that thing.

Tons of work to do to this thing. I'll give a better run down soon. For the meantime settle for these terrible pictures.

I can't wait to get it pulled apart to take a picture. The coilover sleeve managed to force its way down OVER half the C Clip on the Shock body.

Yeah. Apparently that can happen.

Damn man, you need to figure out a perch solution lol. I hit some big potholes with mine without incident. Maybe your sleeves are different?

This is getting annoying. I noticed the right rear C clip was looking like the left side was after it had blown off at autox and how the right side looked after the first time it happened. the other edge was bent down and was not flat like it should have been. And this was a brand new clip put directly into the groove with no factory clip still in there. The left side is still the bent one that blew off at autox that we bailing wired to be able to run. Now it was some crazy thick uber heavy duty stainless huge gauge wire. But still, it's still holding together.

Managed to get the sleeve over only part of the clip. and it is STUCK.

More carnage pictures. The clip is extremely destroyed. There's a lot of slack inbetween the sleeves and the shock body and I think that might have helped with the carnage. Still not sure how this keeps happening. Brand new clip straight into the groove.

It looks like the sleeve is just too big and it's pushing on the outer edges of the clip, forcing it to just twist in.

I know the 200 20v rear struts have a bigger diameter shaft. Maybe the body itself is bigger? Might be the reason I'm having so many issues with these rear clips turning to death.

Looks like it's time to break out the calipers. I think when I go coilover on my 5000, i'd upgrade to the 200 20v rear struts and mounts anyway. Have to make it run first though.

The rear mounts are different between the two vehicles and you can't use all the 200 20v stuff on the 5k shocks. I tried to, didn't work. Not enough threads to use it fully. So yeah if going coils on a 5k, upgrade to 200 20v rear shocks and the upper mounts. Leagues better. Now time to find some bilsteins.

Agreed, it looks like the sleeve is too big. That doesn't mean you can't easily order one a size or two smaller... that is a much easier solution.
