Welp

That same dimension on these is 2" even. So that's off 1/2". Also, these Trans mounts I made were with the 1.8t and the mounts on the motor that went directly to the frame, I may just need to make those over again as well me thinks now.

they also have different polys and rubbers etc in different durometers, still something damn firm but enough to barely take the edge off

When you measured the mount you measured from the bottom of the aluminum? As in the face that has the 034 cnc'ed into it? Because as you can see in my pic above I measured from the top of that plate. Just wonderin.

soooo, not much progress here as of yet. but im starting to gather parts up. intake mani stuff is en route. drivers side motor mount ears got welded into the car yesterday. awaiting some waterjetted pieces to make the trans mounts out of.

oh, got an aim mxl strada too
Image

and since i dropped the subframe to weld the motor mount ears i decided to just chop the subframe and weld in flat pieces to give myself a bit more room taking the motor/trans in and out.

So. My BFF has a waterjet where he works. And since I'm pretty computer literate i asked him for the program that they use to make parts on. And now, I have a shitload of things for him to make me lol. This was the first piece. Aluminum vr6 coolant flange. Center hole is for an 1.5"OD pipe to be welded in, then a tstat will go along there and it's gonna all be tits.

Then we got some brakes bolted up.

Bolster S calipers
Rs2 brackets
323mm Audi A8 rotors. Redrilled 2 holes and elongated 2 others to get the 4x108 pattern. Now this is a 90q20v, so it had the Coupe suspension and this brake setup is a direct bolt on. The only thing I had to do was press a Coupe hub in there instead of the stock 90q hub, which give a bit more offset as well which helps with tie rod clearance and 275 tires.

So. Motor is in all bolted up. Had to do some more oil pan chopping, touareg pan, and finally got stuff to where I wanted.

Others that have done this looked as if they chopped the front of the valve covers flat? Why's that? Mine seems to clear the hood just fine.

I was just gonna email you. What'd you end up with for IC core thickness and rad thickness? I know you moved the motor back a bit so you may have been able to get away with more then me.

the ic is a 3.5 x 22 core x 12.5 tall

off the top of my head rad is 26x 17? ish but 2.5" core, 3" overall thickness

I did slide it back but the adaptor negates that somewhat, still gained a lot of room, I will sneak my front bumper fwd about 1/2"

So. With where the rad inlet fitting is currently, the plenum will not fit. RMR D plenum being 4.40" tall and as you can see from the previous picture with the tape measure in it, no fit. So, any issues anyone can see of putting that fitting on the side of the rad facing the headlight. Then I can use a 90 hose end to shoot it back into the bay and I'll be golden.

I see no prob with it, also consider using a small mandrel bend to make a 90 and use a straight=much less $$$ straight hose end

so, with the other stuff coming together here i have moved onto trying to get the power steering stuff setup here. I ended up doing away with the PS on the 20v due to the fact that it always felt a little 'odd' and it seemed as if there was too much pressure build up perhaps, or sloshing around, of the fluid in the reservoir due to it always being puked all over after a drive in the engine bay.

so, this is the resivoir that i have.
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway- ... ,2062.html

do i need to be cutting this thing up and adding a baffle internally? If so should i put the baffle above or below the return fitting that you see there? Perhaps not a baffle, but welding an elbow pointing downward in the can, versus it just returning in straight? questions, comments, concerns, all welcome.
