yeah, the platinum pearl came out good. mixed it kinda strong, and it shows..... and its deep in there too, i think we did 5 coats of clear? one good heavy coat, then the pearl, then 3 more on top of it. he is going to buff it out again in a week or two. its sooooo silky smooth.

Re: Aarons Drag CQ: 3-16 AWIC piping work

Post by speeding-g60 »

and Justin, aka Nubworks, came down to get some of this AWIC piping knocked out. partway thru it we decided on something really different and REALLY COOL, so we stopped at the inlet stuff. Chris (Chris@Nubworks) is gonna make the part tomorrow, then we will work on it when he comes back down again. cant wait to see that part.

the little circles of cardboard are to set the correct space for the coupler ferrules.

Image

and dont hate on my home Ghetto-fab radius work. this is the inlet to the AWIC. wait until you see what Chris builds for the outlet side, that is tomorrow. its gonna be badass.

Chris@Nubworks made somethin cool for it. and he showed me pictures. but i will pick it up tomorrow on the way home from work.

i was working on the coolant res and overflow can. Derek came over to make a few tacks for me but ended up welding it out. thanks D! i had both pieces made, he welded the brackets to mount and attach to each other.

and i stopped by to see Chris@Nubworks to pick up some goodies.

the plates for the coilover sleeves.... it was much easier to have him machine them than me to hole-saw them out like normal. and since he was bored at work over the weekend he put them on an EDM machine :) said it took about 50 minutes per, and i told him the rest i can cut by hand LOL.

and using Koni Sports. NOS on Flea-bay. $94 for the pair. adjustable rebound :)

oh yeah.. and the new AWIC outlet flange.... whipped up something to smooth the flow coming out of this beastie. Nubworks and Chris@ Nubworks designed. GREAT JOB!

and along with longer and turned in steering arms, it requires shorter tie rod/steering rod arms.

the mega bitch of this was to drill out the solid centers to make sure there was room for the heim joint threaded portion. and the handy dandy lug-nut weld-bungs is always fun.

got more work done. finished the fitting of the AWIC and its piping. built a new catch can, with internal baffle and drain port back to the pan. and did the final welding of the coolant reservoir stuff. welded on the BOV flange.

now for Justin aka Nubworks to finish up the welding and it all goes back in for the final time.... we got to get to the freakin track!!!!

PRIVATE TRACK DAY IS JUNE 3RD!!!!!!! AAAAGH!!!!!

and been working on some more stuff.

got the coolant res and overflow done. got a new catch can made. got the fuel cell sorted out, welded up, and anodized. also put the launch control clutch valve setup back in.

i am on too many different forums to pay attention to them all, but when i get a response or question to one, i answer it and then update it. no answer, no update.
