I used to install backflows. Had a contract in a subdivision that was in need of becoming current with the change in city legs and did quite a few in one place. Then after they were installed i'd have to have the city come out (or private contractor like yourself working for the city) and do the "walk through" on the install and backflow test. Good luck with the new business! 8) (oh, and the 4k's pretty nice too! :P )

Don't forget the T-Belt cover  . Are you going to settle down in Cali or Oregon? I'm going to be in the Portland/Eugene area, and I'd like to see this in person.[/quote]

OR it will be 8) the car should be up here by the summer. i have to do some more things to it, break it in a bit, tune it, and then i have a grudge race with a customer and his 64' wildcat :D

Once my 4kq is on the Road Derek, I'd love to see this thing in person too! Maybe at Pacific Waterlands??? I am totally willing to make a 230 mile drive to go play with other Audi guys!

This year when I go my poor 4kq will still be sporting a really lousy paint, but my interior SHOULD be complete or close and I really hope to have had it down to 034 for it's tune on IIc so it should be at least really fun to drive :-D

Backflows, huh? We do a bit of that...however, I'm pretty unfamiliar with them (I do the low voltage stuff like Fire alarms, security, etc). I did help disassemble and install a new DC check valve the other day (the side toward the customer's sprinkler system) at an Office Depot. Couldn't tell you another thing about them though!

nice mainifolds. Intake is awsome and the em looks very industrial, like it would last for 1000 years. :-)

I flew to Ca this last tuesday to wrap up a few things and get the car road worthy again. I had to redo my PS/Alt. bracket because it was off a little too far to "adjust", so i started from scratch and made a new one.

other misc things needing done were wiring up the NB 02 sensor, the dash CLT temp sensor, mount IC and plumbing, wiring up the rad. fan again and some other piddly stuff. I still need to run a wire for the speedo to work and put the dash cluster area back together.

I also had a low oil pressure scare... turned out to be a faulty oil pressure sender. it was reading low both on the gauge, and tripping the dash buzzer. hooked up a manual gauge and it's beautiful, 30psi @1k rpm which about my idle right now. my vdo dash gauge was telling me .5bar.... :( .

I worked all friday on my buddy's 4kq project, and then all night until 5am, loaded my car on the trailer and took her home to OR. she left the shop lookin' sharp with the new ronals and dunlops

mm, chain induced tire tuck 8)

I had a faulty CLT temp sensor which was replaced and now good to go, so off on the maiden voyage and a stock WG spring, no VGT control (i think it's open....), and just to give it some shakedown runs.

6-8psi never felt so good. it pulls and pulls and pulls. spoolup is a bit late, somewhere around 4k rpm, but again, i don't know if the turbo vanes are open all the way or not. the turbo and it's controller are water cooled, so if i crack the controller box off, it will leak all out, so right now i'm just doing short runs to get everything up to temp and make sure things aren't leaking and melting etc. but anyhow, this turbo is gonna move a lot of air..... it starts to whir right as the WG cracks open and gives me goose bumps thinking of the whistle once i get some serious boost pumping through 8) I am hoping i can control the VGT to hold the vanes closed when the vacuum is high, and then start opening up to regulate boost by itself instead of by the WG.

The rings need some breaking in before i crank the boost up, but once i get some miles on it, i'll try and be diligent about posting vids and whatnot.

anyhow, i gotta get back to my route, busy day tomorrow on the road testing :)

Looks and sounds really good Derek. I can't wait to see it cranked up on boost. You have done a great job of putting together a very nice ride with lots of attention to detail. I sure would like to see it in person like Aaron! A honeymoon in Las Vegas probably isn't your style, but if it is.......look me up.

mmmm, 9psi and charge air chatter when i lift *shivers*. I'm only getting a little time each evening to do something or tweak and right now i can't get my laptop/ecu to co-operate and make some logs when i run through the gears. i have a slight stumble between 4-5500rpm under boost, but AFR's are looking nice at 11.5. i have a severe urge i am resisting to go straight to 25psi.
