loxxrider wrote:Ya thanks Ben. I can get you some info on the mani and what it actually went into if you want. It may well fit a small chassis. Either way, they can be custom made to whatever you want and they are nice, thick steel that isn't likely to crack if supported properly. Also equal length which is awesome.

If you looked into that man... that would be freakin awesome. My main concern is the turbo hangin out on the fender or somthing along those lines. So do you think this turbo is going to be Lag.... LAAAAG .....GOOOOOOOOOO? Or, should it spool at a half decent RPM?

Ya, I'm getting the specs from him as soon as he responds.

Its not going to spool quickly thats for sure. I'm hoping for 5k full boost. If thats the case, then I should have at least 4.5k worth of good powerband. Just shifts the powerband up and makes it a LOT bigger :)

HOWEVER, I am pretty positive that I want to make my own quickspool valve. THAT will be very interesting and I can't wait to see how it works out. I can see decent boost by 4k with a setup like that.

Will it stay your DD then? xD But I guess for those pesky stop lights you'll have anti-lag and launch.

I don't see anything wrong with DD as long as the CR doesn't dip below 9:1. Its a little tough getting used to not having boost below 3k now (even worse on the bigger turbo in the future), but once you get used to it its fine and fun actually. As long as you aren't in first, you just have to shift later and you're good to go!

poopy, I took the turbine housing off and found that there were two chipped blades. I'm sure it would be fine like this, but I'm going to try and get a new wheel regardless.

(this couldn't have been known by looking at it without the housing off)

Sick ride man, looks like it's running really well now. Does the gopro mount with just a suction cup? Not worried about losing it @ high speed?

Thanks :)

Yeah gopro is just mounted via suction cup. I'm not worried about it because thats what I bought it for. No point in having it if I can't use it properly. Its made to take a beating. They fall off of people's cars all the time if not mounted correctly which makes for great footage. However, losing it does concern me. Thats why I try to keep an eye on it as much as possible. They stick on much better if the surface is wet though. Thats one secret to gopro success.

I was thinking maybe you could attach a piece of rope to it as a security measure...but then if the suction cup lets loose the camera is going to just bang up against the side of the car. I've wanted to get one for a while now.

thanks, all the couplers are getting replaced by the hargett clamps you see on the floor. Just waiting on my manifold to be finished and maybe the big turbo to be on before I do all of them

Do it just for kicks! :D Look at it this way:

Its trick, will reduce EGTs, you will need less boost to hit your target TQ/HP and with the quick spool valve ($500bux? WTF?) you will have something different.
The TQ and HP band will be awesome...

i do not think that a quick spool valve is going to make a big difference. it will speed up flow but overall flow will be reduced. I can not picture more than a 200 rpm drop and would not be surprised if it is more like 50-100 rpm.

Wow, this is why I LOVE Goldfarb. I sent them an e-mail last night asking if they had any spare turbine wheels laying around (that I could buy) because mine is chipped...either that or another turbo. The reply I got today was, "I will send you another turbine wheel for free. Sorry about that..." and then it continued with other stuff we were discussing. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE.

This is why I support Goldfarb the way I do. Order up fellas :)

Peter, I dunno about that...everyone that has used one has experienced great results. I don't see how it wouldn't make a difference. You are still going to have a marginally smaller m-dot and it won't be a bottleneck at lower RPMs where you need it. That means more velocity for the turbine blades. Then you open it up when you need the volume. I think the tradeoff in slightly lower m-dot, but much higher velocity should be worth it in theory and in practice. I want to try regardless. Mine wont cost $500 to make.

Its for the HX52 which means its a "quasi T4" flange. They don't quite fit T4's but they will with a little modification. I believe its a bit bigger in physical size to any comparable T3 housing. Regardless, the 12cm that are normally on HX35's are awesome. You really can't go wrong with one.

loxx, my pops is doing a Quickspool valve from SP. We'll let you know how it works, our goal is full spool by 4000rpm on a stroker with a CT-6465 (close to 35R, billet wheel, 3x ball bearing). Not sure when it'll all be done, waiting for the stuff from Marc :)

Woo, that should be awesome chaloux. I cannot wait to see that. What are the dimensions on the Comp's comp wheel? Something in the low 60mm range I'd think for the inducer?
