Welp that means one of your screens (filters) are clogged for sure. :( That means your going to have to drain the system and replace that screen then recharge that bitchola up.

Just wondering. Was your car converted properly to run 134 from r12? I can't remeber exactally what year they made the change. It was around that time I thought.

The PO said it was converted. The compressor didn't have the proper fitting on it so who knows. I'll probably just throw a new dryer in, replace all of the seals, and flush the whole thing out and then put some new oil and r134 in.

What do you mean by drain? Do you mean the oil or do you mean the r134, because all of the gas is already out of it. I'll probably just have someone service it I guess. I just don't have all of the necessary tools to get the job done. I can do all of the screens and seals though. Do you have any idea where they all are? I did the orifice tube already so thats one down.

On the AC system,

If its been converted to R134 you need to make sure they changed the fittings as well. R12 and R134 fittings are not compatible. The R134 will leak out of R12 fittings.

Hope this helps :-)

Ya, if it's been properly converted no leakage should happen. Peroid. By drain I ment having the gas evacuated :-D Although if you do go through the system yourself, make sure you pull the compressor and allow it to properly drain all the nasty old oil out and fill up with the ester. Honestly whenever I did a full on conversion my boss always had us put on a new compressor, but I am sure it will be just fine without that kind of replacement. I was cheap on my Pathfinder and went with the old compressor, just threw in new seals/sceens and oil and the system has been great going on 3 years.

Anyways ... I have no idea where all the other screens are at on the audi system. I have only ever done GMs, my Pathfinder and a couple of Fords. SOO my knowlege is limited to that extent. I do know some systems may only run one screen. So if You have a bently ? It should show where they are all at.

After messing with it last time with you, I think the problem could be in the R12-to-R134a low side adapter. I believe there is like three types of adapters. Some you have to remove the original schrader valve. Maybe that's the kind you have and why it won't take a charge.

Mine has that little pin that pushes the valve in, but maybe its not hitting it right or something...I dont know.

I want it lol.

I'm back to finally being able to fully appreciate this car again. Everything working as one awesome combo. Got to use the brakes, the suspension, and the power tonight. Its crazy how huge of a difference the air temp makes in how quick the car is. I'm having fun at only 15psi. Injectors start to run out at more than that on the top end. Pretty lame. Man I wish it could have been right when it was cold out. I did some fine tuning of the cruising portion of the map tonight. Car cruises at 1.1 all the time. I'm going to see how far it can go before it doesn't like it. Fuel economy FTW!

I need a job to get this damned thing moving! I can't wait. Clutch needs to come soon after. Its been feeling pretty soft lately.

Oh and BTW, the 90 is a sure thing now. I leave Monday to pick it up :)

Yeah, the roadtrip fell through :( sad, but I'll have fun doing lots of other things this summer like Carlisle!!

Yes, the 90 is a 20v. I'm not sure what all I'd need to get it running, but I'm not even sure I want to. My wicked plan for it is an abz, nice suspension, and decent brakes. Thats about it! I think it would be a great car like that. I need some V8 in my life, thats all there is to it.

Did you pay for it already? If not, have you considered Josh's 90 V8?

Soon as I get it! I'm leaving in the morning tomorrow. I have to leave it up at school though because my parents don't want it here at the house while we are trying to sell it. Its good because that will let me focus on the 200 for the summer and then when I get up to school for the fall I'll be able to get to work on the 90 in my spare time :)

For the a/c i would change the dryer and then you need to pull all the vacuum to get rid of the moisture at least 40min to 1 hour with the machine pulling a vacuum, put some dye in it and charge it up. I would go to the shop for this work. You cant buy R134 unless you have a license anyways.

I got mine running and driving for $700. The e34 is an amazingly well built car. They don't resist rust like a galvinized audi does but the e34 is better than the e28 or atleast that's what I've found. Living in Florida u prob don't have to worry about that anyway. Get one like mine with the big 6 m30b35. It's a 3.5L (well 3430 cc) with 208 up and 225 ft/lbs. I recently saw a dyno run of one... Stock except 19# mustang injectors (5% bigger or so) and 3" exh. Put down 190 wheel up and over 200 tq. A $225 chip will get you 43 more peak hp and like 30 more ft/lbs. They also take boost very well. Stock everything is good to about 400 whp. The e34 engime is 9:1 though... The e28 was 8:1... But thats still pretty turbo friendly. Oh and no timing belt either. There is a decent amount of aftermarket support too. See miller performance and turbocharging dynamics.

Something like this would be bass-ass, albeit quite expesive :bashtard:

Chris, I hear you on the AC; the temps in South Fl set a new record high this past week, hitting 93* but with the humidity index it felt a total scorcher :frustrated:

I myself am in the process of fixing the AC in my QSW, which after charging it last year, lost its freon in about a month's time. I believe I identified a leak due to a dried-out o-ring where the discharge hose connects to the condenser.

I have taken all but the evaporator out for cleaning and o-ringing it. Hopefully I put it back together this week and see how it goes.

I also need to tint the windows cause boy the sun here sure pierces through your skin especially when your AC is out!!

Hope you get your AC sorted out soon.

MMmmm just got back from a mothers day dive, then rope swing and the (on the water) snack shack, and then filets on the grill. :)

Thanks Louis, I'm driving the car to get the 90 tomorrow and then driving back home tuesday. Then Wednesday the car is going to be taken out of my hands to get the AC worked on :( I wish I had the tools to do it myself!

I bet they are going to be like, hey...you need a filter on your turbo...hey, you need a MAF sensor, hey you need a new windshield washer tank, hey you need a new steering rack, a new catalytic converter, a new blah blah blah Its going to be interesting. I wonder if they'll have trouble starting it up. Gotta give it some gas until I find some time to tweak the cold starts :-D
