Then I can finally afford to finish the Holset

could you space the upper mount up more at all? you know, the one that is held in with the inner 3 bolts...
longer studs or bolts in the plate that was your upper spring perch with the stock springs, some tube spacers, maybe with some bar welded between them for rigidity, then pop the upper mount on top of that... might buy you a few fractions of an inch.
unless your upper spring perch rests on the old OE spring perch?
nuugen wrote:How about this idea:
Cut a 1" thick spacer plate from aluminum. Mark the center of it and make an opening big enough for the upper perch to pass through. Then remove the studs from the OE mounting ring, and counter sink bolts/studs into the top of the spacer plate that will go down through the mounting ring--note, don't use the pre-existing holes left by the studs for this, drill them away from those holes and make new holes in the mounting ring.. Put nuts from the underside to secure the spacer on...
Before bolting the spacer on, mark the spots where your upper strut mount would need to bolt to---lay the spacer on the mounting ring, and mark them through the holes left by the studs that you removed. drill out the holes, and press new studs in from underneath. Use studs that are appropriate length to reach through the 1" spacer and the upper mount plate..
