car is now loaded and ready (i hope) to roll. droppin by Joeys shop to bleed the clutch a lil bit. but its GO TIME @ 5:30 PM or so!!!!

and, as i said i would, the day the racecar went into the trailer, the next project car came inside. Corrado. doing a full Quattro (yes Quattro not Syncro) longitudinal 1.8T swap in it. for street use and maybe some hillclimb action. these cars dont have rear axles normally, do they?

Good luck at the track. Go fast, but most of all have fun!! Don't talk smack in front of the car.....talk only nice within hearing distance of it. :D

I like the sound of a quattro corrado. Sounds fun. Would that be a QC2.0?

Aarons Drag CQ: 5-17 car is loaded for the track tomorrow!

Post by zerb »

Just got the word from the man himself.

9.78@145 1.47 60'

Has been the fastest pass thus far this evening. I THINK, that puts him a tiny tiny bit away from the north American record still (USP went 9.76 in their vrt s4 iirc), but I'm sure Aaron's not done for the evening just yet!

Nub finally got hisself a logo, and added them before we made any runs.

and, first run went 11.35 after i bogged the launch. 2.11 60'. oh did i mention trapping 142+??? that told me that this thing will one day be fast.

nest pass missed 3rd, and when i found 3rd i stomped 3-4 and went past the finish line. almost couldnt stop for the cones at the end !!!

third pass, history was made.

4-5-6 passes, missed third each time. and on #6, i broke the motor somehow. it doesnt run. sounds like its running on 3 or 2 cyls. and i dont really have the time/energy to dig into it to figure it out right now. i have IFO in 8 days, and then a private track rental to attend on June 4th. both of which i think i am going to pass on unfortunately.

i cannot wait for my friend Ralph to get his photo work processed. he is the guy who took the pictures of the fire coming from the exhaust on launches. great camera guy!

Congrats on the new record. Update your signature.

Sorry about the motor issues. At least it didn't happen on the first pass.

and fixed it. same thing happened in Vegas. it spit a lifter shim. i dont have a 'scope that fits into the spark plug hole so i couldnt scope it. so i just pulled the head. and saw one ex valve in hole #1 not sealing. and knew right then what it was.

in Vegas i had the head blueprinted and the springs shimmed to prevent this. and yet it still did it. dunno. solid lifter setups, well they take some maintainin i guess :)

i am so glad i put a work bench in the trailer haha. it has come in handy. pulled the head in the trailer as there is no room in the garage now.

IFO next Sunday here i come!

i have been in this very position so many times! i have probably used 10 or more HG on this car, and sometimes i have put it back together with the saem HG as i knew i wasnt going to run it, just needed to drive it around for a show. like @ Wuste in Vegas last year!

valve float? how high do you shift? intake valve? 40psi would be helping to open one of those.
glad you fixed it and glad it hauled balls.

exhaust valve. shifting is under 9k rpm, this head was built to handle 10k. and no, it actually is not. i run a small port head with some work done to it. quite against the grain of all conventional thought processes, i might add. i have always made more power and less torque with this head than i have with a large port head with no work done. i have a few heads, both ported and not. and this one does me very well. when i finally get the new head done, it is a large port with work. the cams for it are i think 290 dur on exhaust and 310 dur on intake? 11mm lift each?? that seems correct from memory.

i think we ran less psi in 4th on the track than we did on the dyno, even.

thanks! i am glad it is easy fix this time, as this would have put it up for the year if it were serious. and haluing balls? i am sooooo very glad it performed. now if only i could drive.... LOL
