ERW 1.625 x .118 wall per NHRA requirements. MIG welding. and lets hope it passes certification if it comes to that.

i have a really nice AC/DC TIG machine (right Derek? :) ) but i dont know how to use it yet really.

haha.... thanks Mike. feels good to know that people are actually getting good info from me. like to help when i can. and Marco is making my axles very soon. i *think* he has figured a way to make the bitchin ass U-jointed stuff for me. will know more tomorrow.

so its raining out today. and the dentist, too. so not much progress made. dreary day, cant pull car outside, just overall, a mood killer day.

so i chipped some more of the sound deadener off the floors. what a PITA!!!!

and i made the seat bracket and mounted it. now to pull it and paint the bracket. my buddy wanted to come drive dada's car...

and more parts. i love getting parts.

so i went with Stewart Warner gauges this car. i like the backlight style, silver face. i run all Autometer in the rabbit, break away from the norm. the Tach was on backorder. i think i may run Red LED 194's in these. not that they will be seen as its mainly a day-runner car. but ya never know Friday-Night-at-the-Drags, and Thursday-Night-Thunder..... hmmm. :D

oil pressure.
oil temp.
water temp.
voltage.
30 hg/40 psi Boost/Vac.
EGT.
10k rpm Tach (yet to come).

and i also got the parts for the custom catch can setup. these lines are all red/blue fittings, fuel lines are black/purple. easy way to tell the difference, not that i would mix them up.

10's for certain. high 9 sec would be the be-all for my race career. and to do it before the other 3-4 guys trying it would be EPIC. first Audi QUATTRO drag car in North America to run a 9 sec 1/4 mile would be something i would like to be known for. that would be cool. and done with a 4cyl as well.

but Mike Hood is hard at it, and should have his car on the track well before mine will be.

the rabbit should make an upper 10 sec pass next saturday, if all goes well.

high 9's will happen, i wouldnt be surprised if you did that one bit. 8)

this is assuming you dont find the 'weak' part of something and keep scattering bits all over the track.

well, i hope.

i did some work on the front steering arms. now just to get the steering centered, and toe the wheels. then pull my custom inner bracket, paint it, and assemble.

and i am unsure. is this how the steering arms versus the control arms are supposed to be?

i hope to get the rabbit on the track next saturday. new trans is not in yet, but did the stg 3 lugnuts mods, new Peloquin, 3.30-1.94-1.36-1.03-no 5th gear changes, 4.24 R&P.

hows your rabbit coming along? get the IIc up and going good?

Post by hypothetical »

4.24 is gonna be awesome I am on the same gears but a 3.94 R&P. I have a 4.24 on the shelve just gotta build it. Rabbit is getting sorted. 034 01C is straight, did 498Whp on slicks a few weeks back so power is not the issue, but I have been breaking other things like trans mounts an the like. Hoping to be at Eurowarz in Bradenton on the 14th of March.

so you said somewhere that you think the 7inch springs are long?

yes Johnny. i think 7's in front are too long. mine is 1/2" from bottom, and thats all she wrote and it could go lower. but keep in mind i also have a 650lb front spring. so a 400lb spring will let it go lower for sure.

i have a couple more springs here. i may flop the 650's to the back and run a 445lb 6" front. rabbit leftovers :D

im thinking ill start with 4's in the front and a little stiffer in the rear, and see how that goes. like you said....for 38 bucks a pop, you cant really go wrong.
