Lists are good, then as you accomplish things you can see how far you've gotten :)

So this is the color you want to paint the CQ? If it is, I like it

So i had to replace the Wondow regulator and door on my CQ. WHAT A PITA. got it all up but the clamp that holds the cable down on the front of the door is stripped, so i have to take it out and swap out that bracket all over again...

Oh well at least i have the part.

Nice car and some good progress going on in your world.

Glad to know I'm not the only one overrun with a daunting case of the little things... haha

Keep at it and post your progress, sometimes it helps for motivation to see what you've accomplished.

On a selfish note, any tips for making the door lock line up with the hole while reinstalling the door card let me know!!

Just keep plugging away at it. I like reading posts from guys able to work on their car. With being stuck waiting for parts and machine work to get done, its nice to see other making progress!

Door lock? The thingy you pull up or push down to lock the door? Mine popped off... The key tumbler swap was the most annoying.

I do t have the door panel on just yet... I think I have B4 cards

No one has any info on the parts i need for the manual swap for the AC? if you have the parts hit me up.

i installed my radio and my speakers in the rear quarter panels.

BEfore you go and ask why i hacked them up and the grills are gone... Its because the rear panels were FUBAR anyways and since i am getting new ones from Joe later on this year, i figured, what the hell.

the front and rear speakers are cheapo Pioneer speakers from Best Buy. For whatever reason, i have THREE out of 4 speakers that work? none are blown as i tested them all. the drivers side rear speaker is not working and i checked and double checked the wiring to see if it was incorrect. it may be my head unit.. but im unsure at the moment.

at least i have some music, but still... its annoying me.

Re: 1990 CQ-Radio install-S2 manual Ac/Heater possibly?

Post by ur20v »

To do the manual heater swap you need a complete setup from a manual HVAC car - the whole box frrom beneath the dash. I've swapped in the manual climate control from my 95 parts car. Be sure to refoam the flaps and install a new heater core while you've got it out.

Oh, and I *think* the B3 cars have a separate Bowden cable that controls an external valve for the heater core while the B4s don't ever shut off the flow to the heater core... so you need the right control panel for the right box

I just purchased a 91 Black/Grey CQ for my sister in law...previous owner had sanded the out lips with medium grit, then finer & finer grades of sandpaper, then polished and waxed them....they look stunning. I'll be able to snap some pictures this weekend if you're interested.

Yes take pictures. Sorry I missed this.

wow that looks like a headache

well, my stereo system crackles and pops and the speakers are new. All the speakers were connected properly. when i have the radio off, it still crackles.

speakers are not blown, and the left rear quarter speaker doesnt have sound... but the speaker itself works fine.

Did you just plug in the speakers, or have you pulled the head unit to see what is going on? It's either be crappy wiring, or a crappy head unit.
