As you can see, I've found a need for lots of breathing out of the valve cover, a dash 6 and -10, -6 goes down to the block outlet, -10 straight to the breather can:
The 7A isn't even supposed to have the nipple, but some of the heads do, and it's capped. I had to go under the 3B slides to even find the part number for the rubber cap when it started leaking and caused a major warm/hot idle problem (car would stall). The AAN slide doesn't list even the nipple (on the 3B and 7A, it is actually removable) or a cap that I could see. Also looked at the vacuum system slides for the 3B, doesn't show anything connecting to the nipple on the valve cover.
So.....?
I've never seen a 7a valve cover with a nipple, and never seen a 3B/AAN w/o a breather nipple, not sure about what ETKA has to say about it, but in the US, what you're descirbing is extremely rare, and all I5 turbos have come with ventilation to the valve cover. Only the NG and 7A come to mind that don't have venting in the valve cover.

Well, the one I had has the nipple...It is now residing in Jonathan's shop on his 20v motor, I have his 3B cover. The "slides" I was referring to was actually ETKA, US version current to MY2003 cars, the ABY/AAN slides clearly show the breather hooked into the cover, but the 3B slides do not. The cap is an 8mm item with an AL12-22 clamp, found under the 1991 200q20v (US and Euro) and the 1991 urq (RR engine), the S2-3B does not list the cap but rather the breather setup.

I have the car running at about 13 lbs of boost and I can't get used to how it just keeps building power! This is too freaken cool. It hit 18 psi last night when I had the wg cranked down a little too much and I was getting torque steer like I did on the 20v with race gas in it. I can't amagine what it's going to be like with the WI hooked up and close to 30 psi of boost. :woowoo:

Yep, brought it up to temp, let the fan kick on 3 or 4 times then let it sit overnight. Next day, changed oil filters, re-torqued the headstuds, and commenced flogging. The 18 psi was a little much for now. I think I'll leave it at 13-14 psi for the next 500 miles.
It's nice at this level, there's no surge in the turbo. I can stomp on it in 5th and the car accelerates really well even at 3500 rpms.

I doubt it, but I should have known better when installing the studs. I noticed that this stud was higher than the others. I pulled it out and looked in the hole and saw metal at the bottom. I never thought to look on the side of the block and see what was screwed in right there. So the moral of the story is if there are holes tapped into oil or coolant galleys proceed with caution. :wink:

Yep, we update the internal map sensor inside the ECU to 4BAR, and it still reads down to 20kpa like the 2.5 BAR sensor 8)

We are going to release this as a new option/feature coming soon, Jim was Beta testing it and clearly its working fine, no bugs etc.
Look for a more official release about this coming soon, and hopefully less confusion :-)

I'm a little confused too... seems like 2-3 months ago you were 'splaining that we had to give up resolution in the fuel/spark maps off boost/down low in order to get control above 2.5 bar...
Is the upgrade all software or harware software...???

shrug. just wondering because of the added venting in the cam covers you guys are doing. must need more than the usual vent in the block? with the stock set-up as you know, if you try to take a peek, through the oil fill etc, the engine dies. figured audis might all have a lot of blow-by and many would never be able to see it. wanted your .02

The reason the engine dies is due to the fact that you're bypassing air around the MAF into the motor, as you likely know, has nothing to do with blowby. The main reason why Audi routes the crankcase back into the motor is emissions related, the rings seal fine w/o vacuum, and yes, there is an awful lot of air coming out of the crank case when you're making 800HP, as Nate's emperical formula proves 8)
Its the better of 2 evils, Satan being sending oil back into your combustion chamber.
