Re: '84 Audi Coupe Gt grp2

It might be an optical illusion but you look to be way too far back. With on hand at 12:00 on the wheel there should be a slight bend in your elbow. It looks like you're reaching for the wheel and might not be able to reach the shifter. Unless you plan to pour a fairly thick insert in that seat ...

Re: Audi 4000q What to do?.....

Hank's 07K URQ has a billet aluminum brace that is bolted between the fenders, presumably because he cut off the spot welded steel brace. I plan to do something similar on my CQ just because it looked cool. ;)

I would love to see more more detail on how the pedal box gets mounted. I may have missed it but are you going with the stock brake booster or dual master cylinders?

My son and I have had a cable shifter on the drawing board for several months but the CQ project is nowhere ready for it. We might be interested in sharing in the development and defraying costs, and we're just up the road.

Re: eS2 evolution

Just spent some time looking through this, very nice work. Love the attention to the wiring, very inspiring. I would definitely do bulkhead connectors. Not only do they make removing the harness/engine easy, it makes changing ECU's much easier down the road. Just redo the in-car portion and you are ...

We're you able to source NOS connectors or are you using newer style connectors? That is, assuming you're not reusing the brittle original connectors.

Aside from the initial acquisition cost, what other expenses could one expect to get up and running with this welder? Disclaimer: I'm a mediocre MIG welder and have never tried TIG welding.

Re: First time building a 5cyl

My AAN bottom end is almost identical: ARP studs, line hone, crank polish, 034 mains. My clearances were similar:
#1 0.00175
#2 0.0016
#3 0.0015
#4 0.00175
#5 0.0015
#6 0.00175

I didn't try spinning the crank until everything was torqued so I don't know if mine got rough prior to torquing. I don't ...

Re: CQ HVAC delete

Definitely an option. If I can find someone that is selling the manual control and heater box, or wants to trade for an automatic unit, that is the route I would go. It would be ideal if the manual controls could be adapted to my auto heater box but it's not clear if that would work.

I'm also considering that option. I'm not sure if it will fit as nicely as the factory unit but it looks pretty compact. I need to decide if I want to fabricate ducting or fabricate control cables/mounts.

I'm AAN swapping a '90 CQ and converting to primarily track use so I will be removing the A/C. If I remove this harness altogether (the bottom part):

I have one that has been JB Welded, which is okay on a stock 7A but it's going on a built AAN so I would prefer one that isn't cracked. Anybody have a decent one they're willing to sell? UPDATE: Found a pan, I'm all set!
