Yes, true, but the wheel well isn't that much larger on the V8 cars. Pretty much any fender will require work to use it's flare for various reasons. Even flares from a B4 will require a decent amount of work to fit on a B3. Eric, you are talking v6 flares, not v8 ones. The v8 a6 cars came with 255-40-17s on 8" wide wheels. These are usually 25.4" tall wheels...

You can fit 255 tires under the CQ with some flaring of the fenders. With the perfect offset and 9" wheel I will bet you can fit 265 if not 275 series tires.
Jim, if you go to even CQ width levels I think you will be happy enough with 255 tires. I mean how much wider do you really need for a primarily street car? You are better off spending money on reallly good sticky rubber than buying cheap Kumhos and going as wide as you can. I'm sure you know this, you've tracked the car enough to realize potentials of quality tire.

I vote B4 or even URS. I cut out the rear flares out of a B4 with the intention of grafting them onto my 80 but I decided my B3 just wasn't quite worth all the work. Your car, on the other hand, would look amazing widebody and possibly resprayed imola yellow?

If a CQ can run 265s with KWs (modified arms) why not do that first? You should be able to fit <=265s under your front B4 flairs and get close in the rear.

Thanks for the pics of the urS fenders, I have a few on the way so this seems to be the best option at this point.

I agree that 255's would be a huge improvement, and that is likely where I will end up at first, but if I am going to go through the pain of flaring the rear, I want to be able to fit something even wider. I have moved on from street tires and have run R compounds at the last three events
I still have a ways to go as a driver, but the feedback from more than a few instructors who have been in the car is it really needs wider tires, and I can't agree more.

You know, you do have a point there...if you have to modify th erear then might as well make room fo rmore, even if you don't use it, it will make fitting 255s a LOT more comfortably..
Have you thought about Reiger flares? Not even sure this stuff is still made?

The arms are cast into the bearing housing so they are not going anywhere. Unless of course I put front struts in the rear, and rotated the arms in, then I could have 4 wheel steering!

Now we are talking, those are definitely more than 255! They look even wider than 275's.
I will get the 255's and the fat 5's on the car once I get the S2 hubs on go from there. I like the way the green car looks from the rear, but the side profile is blah.

Ah! Coupe rear housings or fronts in the rear?
Anyway, I was checking out a Reiger Coupé the other night. Its also cool that they eliminated the rubber lower trim. The bumper is meh but has ~4" to the crank pulley.

not so much on the rear... B3 flares are narrower than on a 4kq, and i've pushed the limits on that with 235's that were a bit too tall. flares are the only solution unfortunately

Not well versed on these B3s
You don't want / need a lot of rubber in the rear of front engined understeering pig.
The MTM RSR was 265/35R17 F and 235/45R17 R!

Agree....You could run 245-255's up front and a 225-235 out back and possibly get some neutrality along with some suspension tweaking (spring and damper rates) that won't give you snap O.S. Something to think about.
