I rushed to get the header brace all finished and am very happy with the way it turned out.

I left at 5:45AM for Fremont on Friday morning for Dyno round #2 at 034. I had to do some logging on the way up and found that I was at 100% duty cycle on my 75# injectors. It looks like the first item on the list is to sort out fueling issues on the dyno. After tossing on a few different gauges we verified the fuel pressure was not increasing with boost. I hooked up about 20 psi of compressed air to the reference line on the FPR at idle to see if it jumped up and it did. So we figured it must be the ghetto dual fuel pumps I have been running for the last 6-7 years. I was not fond of the thought of bathing in gasoline at the time, but Javad insisted
Time to swap in an 044 pump and new filter. I have been wanting to do this, and now have 100% -6 up to the FPR.

Back to the dyno and found the pressure problem was still there. I did my test again with the compressed air and this time fuel sprayed out of the reference port. I think we found our problem. My original Aeromotive FPR finally failed on me. One new Fuel Lab FPR to the rescue and we were finally on our way. Nate went back to his bucket while I remapped everything in the ECU since I have been way over compensating for the bad regulator for quite some time. Having a dyno to work with really is priceless! Within probably 30 min I was ready to make a pull with the PTE5857.
I pulled Nate away from his bucket and we ripped this one on the first pull.

I knew this turbo was fast, and this really proves it. I will add to my turbo comparison thread once Nate gets me some more plots and we can discuss more in depth over there, but I am very happy with this. Spool is not quite as low as the 30R, but very close and better power than a 35R at this boost level. There, I said it. 8)
So thanks again Javad for having such a great shop with all kinds of crack in stock, and Nate for always being willing to help even if it is midnight on a Friday.
This was just the start of the weekend, I still had to drive to Monterey for the MotoGP Race
yeah i wanna know too
Maybe someday, but the goal of this project is to optimize pump gas. I don't have E85 nearby, and race gas @ $8 per gallon is silly. I add a few gallons when I am at the track for extra protection, but not extra power. Going back to E85 would require at least 1000 cc injectors, another fuel pump, and -8 fuel line.
I like having this in DD trim where I can put 1000 miles on it in a weekend and be fairly comfortable at the same time. Did I mention in 6th gear @ ~65 mph it will very quickly build half a bar of boost ~3000 rpms? No need to downshift to pass 80% of the cars out there.
The next thing that is likely to happen is Meth injection. I have most of the system installed already, and can easily get 5 gallon drums. I just need to fix my pump and fine tune it. I will probably switch to a dedicated tank in the trunk as well so I can carry at least two gallons of 50/50 water/meth. 500 whp should be easily reachable and that would be tits.
IMHO more than 450 whp in a street car is borderline dangerous. We were zipping up a pass last night and this thing closes gaps at very alarming rate and doesn't give any room for error if someone freaks out in front of you.
It's just funny that my "smaller turbo" is kicking ass and now the car is faster than before.
I'd agree about this being dangerous.
May I please have some clarification. This is a Cali emission compliant, streetable ,450 hp, track car?

That was a cool experience, the Grand Prix bikes are simply on another level, and this was a real treat to see my favorite race series in person.
Finally I wrapped up the drive home on the 101 with my buddy and his 470 HP M3. This car was pretty dam fast, we did a pull from about 65, I was in third the whole time, he started in third at 6k, then shifted into 4th. He got a slight jump on me as expected, but then I put a car length on him pretty quickly as soon as he shifted to 4th. That car sounds so evil though, with the dual clutch transmission blipping the throttle as you come to a stop.

This still is one of my fave cars on MG. I have a weakness for the B4 (look) sedans.
I know its a typ89.
470 on 91? Amazing. Please don't hurt yourself or your cream beast while having fun, Jim.

I suspect that my Water Injection got into the chamber, corroded the spring, then a sliver punctured the diaphragm. Weak sauce.
You don't need a coupe kill button. You already have more horsepower than any coupe in SoCal.

Re: Jim Green's 90 20vt + PTE5857 = 472whp
Ordered a new pump, and a 2.5 gallon tank today for the Methanol/Water injection, but of course they are out of the tanks. The plan is to put the entire setup in the trunk and have lots of capacity. The car is on stands anyways since I sent my prop shaft out to get balanced. 3 weeks till Buttonwillow! :woowoo:
I am hoping to sneak in a 500 whp rip on the dyno before then so I can enable my coupe kill button.

Nice. I wish I had my water injection in working shape like you do.. You will continue to work the hi speed valve with a nozzle pre throttle body?

Re: Jim Green's 90 20vt + PTE5857 = 472whp - 1 FPR
Hank, the plan is to keep using the High Speed Valve. My only concern is that my new pump is the Aquatech 150-250 psi pump, and the valve is rated @ 120 psi. I have to test it out, I might have to go to a variable pump speed system. I am also going to create a fail safe that will use a high pressure switch between the valve and nozzle to bump the ECU into a higher boost map if the WI is on. I don't think the pulsing of the valve will work with this so I have to test it out. Hopefully the pump will be here this week.
Pete, I know. It is a joke but I want to design this system to be as reliable as possible, and have the capacity to make it a few track sessions if I desire. Plus it puts more weight in the rear

Good to know, I have one on the way, supposedly. It's the weekend and there still isn't a balanced driveshaft of WI parts for me to install which where ordered over a week ago and has me a bit annoyed at the moment. I guess I'll go to the beach.
