SO Here we go again..

Ive been through this before elsewhere describing the project. SO I'll make this short.

I originally got an 87 4kq from a friend for free basically, i started mockup into that car for the AAN engine(1995 s6). I then got an 84 shell with a junk JT(poop) engine in it. I had good results from the engine for a couple thousand miles then a rod bearing spun suddenly one day. I had the idea of the 07K swap for a while so with Ryan , and Hank making the important certain parts I couldnt make it only fueled the fire.

Heres a small smattering of pics to lead up to today. next post will be 07k content, Ill update appropriately after these posts.

Can't believe you sprung for the short radius 90s! They are such a ripoff!! the 45s too! I find myself just cutting the 90s in half.

Marc should have your collector by now.

Its true but itll be easier and ill build more headers later and theyll come in handy..all that was like 280$. Not bad for more than enough for one header. cant imagine what they pay for them from Taiwan.

Yeah but its 2 hours away and ive been stuck home with nerve damage to my shoulder. Ive had a cryo cuff on my shoulder for over a week. :-(. One hand operations for things over like 5 lbs. Repeat: yea, my commute is 1:45-2:00 hours one way(100 miles~)

So Jim, does this mean that window regulators can't be shipped until you make the 100mile trip to Marc's?

nope monday, john. If my shoulder permits me to remove them from my spare doors.:-D If not maybe i can dig up some of the spares I have removed, just need to find em! i got 3-4 pairs i think. A pair in my urq, pair in spare doors. and at least one more pair uninstalled...somewhere.

Picking up the collector later today, might get some header progress in the early week, we'll see.

Haydn: lol i think im over the payload as well

the v60 WG will be a challenge. Its already started to be. The inlet pipe is a 2.5 vband(2.5 pipe) damn, i knew before but when u see it.....DAMN. Turns out hanks collector when shortened to fit, only has space for a 2" wg pipe. So I'll be extending the collector I suppose, oh well.

this was the prob. After the collector was modded to fit on the flanmge it was too short to house a 2.5 pipe for the v60 wg. Sooo
Image
challenge overcome...
lengthen the collector(unfortunately)

placement planned

Image
Image

lengthened collector
Image

back on the fixture
It is tight but we'll manage, and have a plan already so..
Image
Image
Image

the offender. For the record, it is shorter than an audi WG by a good 3/4 of an inch.
Image

new version of collector(needs a bit more flange work to fit),welded collector inside.

The last pics the bumps were made nicer then those first couple. Its a pretty smooth transition now.
Thats it for today. Picking up a SBL lathe for ryans shop tomorrow, and maybe some more header work. We'll see.
