Pikes Peak 2013 Photo's Lotsa Bandwidth Required

I made the trek once again to Pikes Peak, here are some highlights.

Not as much Audi content, but with the RS200's, Hackl's A2, and of course Peugeot's presence, the event had a very Group B feel to it.

Some shots from Fan Fest, it was hard to get as many pics this year - super crowded.

The morning started with bikes, vintage, electric, and trikes / quads.

Unfortunately, 2 of the three riders that crashed near us went down the mountain in a chopper. One as of writing this still in serious condition.

The cars started with the King, soon to be King of the Hill, and then followed by subsequent classes.

Just like last year, Jeremy Foley's car went past smoking like a chimney.

'Monster' Tajima's electric went past with screaming sirens and one hell of a whooossshhhh

Here was another electric, before...

It was SO entertaining to hear the locals talk about the 'rookie' 'fench guy' in the Peugeot. He was the first car up the hill, one guy next to me said 'if thats a rookie I can wait to see the Pro's run'. I chuckled and said to him, you won't see another run like that by anyone today.

Image

Seeing the drivers parade down the mountain was cool. All of them had a sense of 'Im very happy to be driving down this b*tch in one piece'

Pat Doran was especially happy to be driving down the hill, his team painstakingly put that car back together after what was rumored to be a race-ending crash in practice.

GREAT pics! I was up at Devils Playground/Bottomless Pit shooting pics and nursing a really bad case of altitude sickness. Great event none the less. Hackl's Car is so nice and an awesome guy to talk to. Must have spoken to him for a good 20 minutes at Fan Fest and he recognized me in the crowd on the drivers parade down.

Thanks man, it would have been good to meet everyone at fan fest. It was so packed this year, hard to pull people that I already knew out of the crowd.

Last year we watched from Georges Corner, just above Glen Cove. It was a great spot but alot of drivers had crashed out by then - and when they shortened the race to Glen Cove we missed the rest of the runs.

I wasn't able to make it out there this year - had a great time at last year's event though! I did watch some of RedBull's attempt at a live broadcast though. That was not so hot...the guys couldn't come up with enough to say, and they spent WAY too much time with the cameras pointed at them. I'll give them credit that it was the first year they tried this, so maybe next year they'll have the footage from this event to use as filler for all of the down time. Thanks for the pictures, Sean, glad you were able to go again to such a cool event.
