Mission:
My first car was a 1987 CS Quattro just like this but in Alpine White.... everything I ever wanted to do to that car when I was 16 has been done to this car.... It just took me 17 years to do it!
Background:
My family is from Lake Tahoe and an Audi is an essential piece of equipment there if you have any hope of getting from your house to anywhere in the winter.
Retro pics of the first Audi's we owned....
Dads 90 Quattro (Circa 1989)

Dads 91 V8 Quattro (Circa 1991)

My first car (Circa 1996)

I am a Jeep owner, a Subaru owner and also a Chevy owner but in my mind not owning an Audi felt strange and I needed to do something about that. I was skimming the local adds and I drove a countless number of used Audi's from 100's to A4's but I just couldnt pull the trigger on any of them because in my mind I really wanted back into a B2. By chance I heard about a lady 30 miles away selling one so off I went.... it was fate really, she wouldn't just sell to anyone (she was looking for an enthusiast), she knew her stuff (had a Bentley book) and to my surprise had two for sale.... needless to say I had to call my father in law because I was bringing one more Audi home than planned that day.

Once I got the plan in my head I got back into the game.... found 034 and Techtonics and ordered some parts....

The plan was to pull the engine from the extra car, rebuild it and still drive the other car that it would go into so I could find any bugs in that car.

Then I got cracking on the engine.

Then the transmission was on the bench.

Coilovers.

Yes even on the West coast rust happens but this was all and I suspect a mild front end accident was to blame for it.... at any rate I had to break out the welder and fix it. I cut the part from the other car and used that for the patch.

The interior was important to me to get right (for me) and I always had some thoughts in my head of how I wanted things to be.

Then it was off to the body.... I have painted before and I hate having to do it but it is what it is I guess....

Going back together

I loved the look of the V8 tails but I also liked the separation of the 100 tails so what to do?.... easy.... tinted red 100 tails.

And this is where she is today....

Borbet B's being refinished currently and new General 205/45/16....

The local Audi dealer closed down so I thought it would be cool to take some pics....

And thanks to your guys help she is featured in this.... Classic Audi Euro calender November.

So here we are.... I was originally going to make this project "Just A JT" but then tragedy struck close to home when one of my best friends lost control of the plane he was piloting and crashed in the mountains near our childhood homes... suddenly the project had a more important name to honor the life of not just a friend but a brother and someone I will be jamming with again someday.... Dill I miss you buddy!
The reason for this is that Bryan and I grew up playing music together.... him on the bass and me on the drums.... before he passed he wrote a song called "Free to Fly" and when I went to the site the day after I not only touched the plane but I took a piece of it too so Bryan's plane would always be a part of this car.... interestingly it fit right on the TB linkage and I just love that!

I hope you guys enjoy the pics and if anyone has any questions about anything I did to this car then please feel free to ask
