What is needed for VEMS on 20vt?

Perhaps we can turn this into a sticky since I know other people will have this question.

I have the TPS (2 to be exact) off of what I believe is the same for the V6 and AAN
5 injector bungs on the way to run EV14 injectors

I'm going to use an AAN harness and retrofit it accordingly.
Lots of Bosch 2 and 3-pin connectors

Lots of solder and shrinky dink

Anyone care to add to the list?

What do you plan on using for a trigger? Crank/Cam sensor? OR 60-2?

There is no cam sensor. There is a hall sensor in the distributor however.

I was planning to use crank/rpm sensors on the flywheel

Sometimes we are a little brutal, but only in the nicest possible way :D On a more serious note... Jared, give Marc a call and he can set you straight on which harness you should start with (AAN or 3B) and then set you up with the proper ecu. I forget which way phillip went on his 3b'd 5k, but you will probably follow a similar recipe because like a 3b the 20vt also has a distributor and no cam sensor.

Ok then. I can give you a short list off the top of my head. It is by no means complete but add to it if you have more suggestions please, Im going to be doing this exact thing sometime in the next couple years.

VEMS econoseal with flying lead harness.
Injector bungs.
injectors
Fuel rail
1.8T IAT sensor
Wideband 02 sensor
TPS
Coils for COP (optional)

Things that i'm unsure of are triggering, and coolant temp sensor. I do know that on my 40v with vems im using the stock temp sensor for vems but im not sure if you can use different sensors or if most of the newer audi CLT sensors are the same or what.

Stock IAT is usable just not as accurate as 1.8T
Stock CLT from a 20v car is usable. 20vt CLT would not work. Unless its from a 20v non turbo, those are 2 prong like a 20v sensor. Just not sure if they're totally the same internally.
FPR is needed as well. Depending on what you can rig up that can be somewhat expensive. ($200ish)
Stock triggering is easy as well. If using a 3b/aan harness it becomes real easy.

I would think you would want to use the 3B harness so you can use the hall sensor in the distributor for ignition timing?

Zombie thread?

I have the flying lead harness connected to my stock triggers :boom:

For now. Going vems in about 6 months. Im using a 4 bar fpr from the later audi/vws. Going COP ignition as well

any 5cyl fuel rail work? or does it have to be made specific for the 20v?

Pretty sure it has to be specific. I picked up an 034 one a while back with brackets for cheap

Dont forget to get the intake manifold spacer. Without that you will have clearance issues with the throttle body.
