Anybody else run XBMC on their computer or tablet?

I have it on my tablet and I got a pivos media player running it. this thing is awesome for what it is and the best part is its open sourced like android. it will just get better and better over time.

here is the best part, I got a new router with usb ports so I could run a home cloud storage or samba. I have a 2TB external hard drive and I ripped all my movies to that storage. most at standard definition SD, some at 720 HD and some at 1080p. At this point I have around 475 movies, tv series saved and they all play just fine on the Pivos XIOS. As long as the pivos isnt too far from the router, it will stream even 1080p without issue. I love the fact that I no longer have to search through countless dvds to find what I wanted to watch. there are so many features to this thing, its insain.

On top of that, XBMC made a remote app that works so awesome you gotta see it to believe. it has a basic remote controller function, it has a list that synks up with the server to show you the contents of your movie collection, tv series collection, music collection, among a few other things, and it ports album covers and art thumbnails onto your tablet or even smartphone.

this thing is super cool.

I have been out of the media game under the hood of mine and customers cars for too long. I popped my head out to take a look and found some pretty cool stuff I have to catch up on. I only know the tip of the iceberg about this bundle of stuff and I'm learning as I go.

Who else?

I run XBMC on a Raspberry Pi as my media center. LOVE it. Streams 1080p video with no issues.

It interfaces with my server which is filled with TV shows/movies/music...I wrote an application which uses the TorrentDay web service and TV guide listings to automatically download specified TV shows as soon as the next episode is available. So it is mostly self-serving, like an automatic HD DVR but with no commercials. I still download movies manually though.

I just downloaded the android app to mess with. R_Pi is pretty tempting, maybe in a couple months. If I could convince the family to ditch cable TV...

...I could spend more cash on parts :D
