Casey's 2010 Golf TDI - Fuel Miser FTW

I think it's about time I introduce the newest member of my family. I found this TDI in early July and thought it was a pretty awesome little beast with all the right features. It's rare to find a Golf TDI with the Tech package and so I kept checking the for sale ad to see that it was available so I could continue to day dream about having it.

Then came the end of July and I was ready to go get it. The return on fuel costs made it a very reassuring purchase given my ~60mi daily round trip commute for work.

It is of course in the project section because who am I kidding. It will be played with.

Love the car so far, I'm a huge fan of this 2.0 CR motor. I'm working on my 2nd tank and so far it has returned 46.6mpg from the tank from the PO, 45.7mpg from my first tank, and this 2nd tank has ~380mi just past half tank so I should be above the 46 mark.

TOOORRRRQQQQUUUEEEESSSSS FTW. I like the sneaky speed that comes with torque. 4th gear passing from 50 and all of a sudden the car is touching 75. I want to keep this car for a good long while.

$3.95 the last time I filled up.

Simple cosmetics, and as OEM stuff wears, upgrade with better aftermarket (suspension, wheels/tires) would like to get it a light tune for more torques and MPG's.

Tint the windows to eliminate the fishbowl look, color match front markers, GTI or Votex rear spoiler at some point, and something with the fog lights. They feel very out of place so we'll see what I can come up with. Maybe get a GTI front bumper and make my way towards a GTD 8-)

That of course will happen extremely slowly..

Sweet!! Can you enlighten me on what the tech package is...?

I was THIS close to getting a 14 TDI Golf myself, but had issues with finding the one I wanted and previous Loan complications. Going to the dealer to checkout the 15 TDI's this weekend though since all the 14's are gone now that I can get one. Hah.

Tech package gives the bi-xenon headlights, sunroof, and Dynaudio stereo upgrade (with touchscreen stereo but not Nav - that's another option) that I know of. There might be more...

Also, keep looking for used '14 for the sake of saving some cash - even certified used

$8.45/gal here in the UK! about 5% more than regular unleaded.

Count yourselves lucky haha!
