4FOXSN8X - FOR SALE
Build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=20
1987 Audi 4000 CS
130k miles (approx)
AAN from C4 S4/S6 swap
$9600
Photos very soon. Can't afford not to have it listed anymore.
The particulars are listed below, I believe I included everything. I have owned this car since November, 2012. I absolutely love driving this car but I simply can't afford to own it anymore. I am motivated to sell, but I am not going to let the car go for less than what I think it is valued at. This car has hundreds of hours of work into it, and was built to be a reliable car that makes a ton of power and is extremely nimble and fast on the street. I believe I've accomplished my build goals quite nicely. The car isn't "done" in my eyes (a few things that I'd like to do yet, but am now selling the car so they won't be finished) but it is complete and nothing is left unfinished as it sits.
My valuation:
I would rate the exterior of the car a 6-7 out of 10. It is a 27 year old car and as such it isn't perfect. There are few dings and scratches, which I've detailed in pictures. The paint is in decent condition but is somewhat faded from the sun. There is no rust on this car anywhere. On the driver's side, there are a few very small holes in the rear fender and one hole in the door jamb, near the back seat. There doesn't appear to be any rust in either of these spots, and since I garage the car in the winter they haven't gotten any bigger or worse. I was planning on eventually adding fender flares, so the flare holes didn't bother me.
The interior is a 7-8 out of ten. It was not a Quattro Script interior car eventually, but the previous owner did a full QS swap. I traded my QS front and rear seats for the Corbeau seats and a grey cloth seat out of a CoupeGT. I have found a rear Quattro Script seat to match, I am currently working out shipping with the seller who is in Boston. I removed the heater fan to make room for my coils since I don't drive the car in the winter. The heater core is still hooked up and the heat works but comes out slowly. I can include the fan assembly as I still have it. I have driven the car on 0*C days when it still hadn't snowed and it heats up very nicely. At some point, a wire was spliced incorrectly by a previous owner as when you turn the fan switch the windshield wipers come on. The stereo sounds great and the sub isn't overwhelming. There isn't much trunk space left but the sub and amp come out as one piece. It is screwed down to the trunk floor.
The car came with an AAN swap already complete, but with an 034 ECU. I installed VEMS, and at the same time replaced the longblock due to bad blowby from a bad tune. I then blew up that motor as the ECU wiring harness was missing a ground and something was off with the timing. I replaced that motor with a new (old) low km block and good pistons. I was very cautious with my tune until seeing Brady@DynoDoc in Montreal. The engine is built and ready to take a large turbo and a lot of fuel for some huge power if desired. The car is currently, I believe, a great compromise between lag and power for street driving. It handles like a beast. The tires have grip for days and turn in is nice and sharp. It is truly a joy to drive this car.
Issues:
There is very little to be done on the car/very little that is wrong with it. If I am to fix these for the sale I will be expecting my asking price (the larger items, not small wiring ones)
1) coolant temp gauge needs to be fixed. It is not working but it does work - a wire needs to be fixed somewhere - WILL FIX
2) the windshield is cracked and would need to be replaced to pass safety
3) I need to mount the ECU in its final position. It is mounted but it was a temporary solution. It works/worked so I haven't finished it - WILL FIX
4) my VDO boost gauge and oil temperature gauge need to be wired for lighting - WILL FIX
5) I need to install the CS rear seat. Currently working on shipping with seller in Boston.
6) the driver's side inner CV joint boot is ripped. I would have fixed this during the suspension refresh but wasn't able to source one. It is not flinging grease as it's torn (not all the way through) on the small end.
7) The driveshaft center support bearing is toast. I have a new one ordered and will be replacing it ASAP - WILLF IX

It seems to photograph pretty nicely though. I realize at this price I will need some undercarriage pics as well, which I'll take when I do the driveshaft bearing this week.
