where can i find brake lines for my 200?

Post by MHCAudi200t »

Whats up guys,

So yesterday i had a few hours after work, i was planning on replacing the old rubber hoses with the new ones i got. As i was trying to remove the metal ( im guessing brass) part of the hose that connects the rubber hose to the actual caliper. It began to strip, no matter what i tried it just stripped :bangshead: . So now i gotta find new ones as the olds ones are useless. I was gonna take lines from the FWD 200 but it was a different setup. By the way the car is a 1991 audi 200 20v.

Heres a pic of the line i need:

I will also need the the metal line for the rears. I couldnt find a pic of that one but i will take one of the car itself.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I just went through this with my 80q when I put on the braided lines. I went to my local Advance auto parts and picked up a piece of pre-flaireed line and bent it to match the original one I broke(well cut off). Turned out to be a little long, but it works well, and not problems yet.

I did it myself. Just used a normal little brake line bending tool. Nothing special. I would take the only line in with you. This way they, or you, can match up the line size, flair, nut, and length.

I did the exact same thing for my cars only I find it extremely easy to do them by hand without any tools

It is especially easy to bend them correctly the first time by using your old broken line so you can follow all the curves as you go (Just put them next to each other and it's a walk in the park.

Also a great oldschool trick is if you have too much brake line avoid cutting it by simply looping it in a safe place (Near the MC or wheel) that way you can just use preflared everything with no need to cut - Makes it a breeze! There are no negatives to this method since it is hydraulic… well other than maybe an extra inch of brake fluid needed

Napa has a GREAT selection of preppared brake lines
