How old is the knock sensor itself?

Old. Original off of a 1990 200 MC2. I've tried more than 1 knock sensor and the problem is the same

It might not hurt to invest in a new bolt through sensor. They are like $40. Beware of the crappy old Hitachi knock sensors. I have found they are usually bad and are very sensitive to how much you torque them to the block. I think it's supposed to be like 7 ft-lbs.

FWIW when I chipped my 4ktq I got the knock sensor code. I bought a new sensor and never had an issue after that. If you have tried other, old, used sensors that may be the problem.

Im with Mike. Try a new knock sensor, and see if that helps. As for a MBC, if you really want one PM me.

Im beginning to think that perhaps the ticking is not lifters and perhaps an exhaust leak. Near cylinder number 5 or the flex tube from the WG to the DP. I kinda melted a part of the tube with the torch getting the original bolts out. I have also discovered that having a baffle in the valve cover on a turbo motor is kind of a necessity as I have noticed not only an oily smell after high rpm and boost, but increased oil loss. It's not burning it and it's definitely not leaking it, so it must be coming out of the non-baffled valve cover. Does anyone know of a valve cover with a baffle but that has the bracket for the throttle cable? I wish I could find a URq throttle cable and then I can swap the turbo valve cover back over. Would help clean up the engine bay too a little more

Put a WTB for a Urq throttle cable or buy a new one?

New ones are available, at least when I checked last year, but are quite expensive. I have yet to find a used one.

Lol. Regardless I may have to get one. Not having a baffle is causing me to buy oil prematurely

I guess I dont understand the baffle issue. I ran a MC valve cover for years with zero issues.
Toss up a wanted ad on here or Audifans for a Urq cable.

I'm running a JT VC. There is no baffle but it has the bracket for the throttle cable where as the MC does not. When I get into boost, the blowby is moving so fast that the oil does not have time to.., I guess effectively remove itself and remain in the engine and goes out the breather hole in the VC. The baffle acts as a way of slowing down that blowby and allowing the oil to fall back into the engine

Very true, that what the baffling is for. If you are having problems finding a ur cable, y not just have the bracket welded to the MC cover?

I have been considering that. I gotta find a donor VC with the bracket first so I can just swap it in rather than risk not having a VC or a thottle cable bracket while fabbing it up

Interesting. I guess I never noticed the MC VC having a baffle either? The old 4cyl VC's did, though.

I've got a smashing idea. What if I took a DKW, totally buggered and rusty, dropped in a 20vt, an 016 with welded center dif and a 4kq rear end. That would make one hell of a Euro Ratrod

Yeah, Just weld the bracket on the MC VC.

20 valves? are you sure you want to stop there? I know where you can get an extra 20 on top of that for a killer price. HE HE
