Then I used it with the 1.9bar spring and it worked fine no matter what. Thats also the same setup i'm running in my avant right now.
I also had a issue with one of my cars where a bad sensor was causing a loss of power .. can't remember which one it was on the bell housing..
I'm using a 1.8BAR spring with adjustable wastegate. Thats interesting to be honest. As far as the sensors go, I suppose it wouldnt hurt to find some different ones and swap them out. The ecm is not throwing codes either for what it's worth.
No I havent hooked up the FP gauge to see if it's cutting it. I was just going to hack in a wire to the relay from the ignition to bypass the ecm to see if it is indeed fuel cut

can you describe what your car was doing? im having a huge power lose with my car right now. not trying to thread jack. but your thread gets more traffic than mine
pics look good. you can see if its the ecu cutting because of boost by un plugging the line for the ecu to read boost/vac.
although doing this the ecu wont tell the in dash bar display to read correct, and the ecu wont know how much boost your running.
ran my car like that for a while before the headgasket blew. dont think it would hurt anything for a pass or two just to verify thats what it is.

Thats a good idea. I figure the knock sensor would alert the ecm if knock began to occur. The car pulls well up until it cuts. Its honestly hard for me to know if I am also suffering a huge powerloss too. Ive never driven a hotrod Audi before

Ya. I was running on just the waste gate spring for boost control. Not entirely the best idea. But i was cheap. But she moved out thats for sure. Make a run or two. Just be careful. Ease into it just in case anything bad wants to happen.

Well when I think i hit fuel cut off ... I would be going WOT down the highway in 5th from about 100km/h and once the car hit full boost and a bit higher in the powerband ( around 4k ) it would fall flat on its face and cut all power ... lifted off the throttle slightly and it came right back to life and kept going. Could easily duplicate the issue. Using the 1.9bar spring I never ran into any problems.
As for the power loss the car would hesitate and stumble when you got on the gas . sometimes it would give me full power and sometimes it felt like it was cutting timing and would give no power what so ever. Then all of a sudden come back on full again.
Shortly after the car wouldn't start after it was ran for a while or got hot. By then I had another car and friend took over and ended up replacing the distributor and all sensors on the bell housing... was fine after that.
Car looks awesome man ! I miss my 20vt 4k !

Yeah now its just a matter of making run correctly. Had to put an X3 in its place tonight but it was able to hang on the top end which really pissed me off

interesting. might have to look into testing them on sjm. thanks!!

I may end up throwing in the other distributor I have too. Wouldnt be a bad idea to eliminate variables

One thing at a time. Change too much at once and you wont know what did it.

So some Celica wanted to race me on my way to work. Long story short, I put the car in 5th, said screw it no one is in front of me and let the thing pull. Next thing I know the speedometer needle is bouncing up and down and the tach is about 5400-5600 and STILL pulling! I got a little scared at that point and backed off. Calculator estimates between 130-135mph. Needless to say that Celica was FARRRRRRR Away when I got off it. I'm wondering if I REALLY shouldve built myself a turbo car :tard:

IDK, it scared me enough for now. That was about 5-10mph less than my truck going down a long grade one time. This was at 14-15psi too. I cant imagine it at 17-18

You need to strap that thing to a dyno to see what your really putting down!

Yeah for sure. I gotta find an AWD dyno around here. I dont feel like removing axles to do a pull. It would be worth it to me to go down to you guys if you know of a local AWD dyno

Its always nice that first time you look down and realize you don't really know how fast you are going! As for building yourself the turbo car, that was just no brainer.

i love hearing the turbo spooling down after boost is made. thats my favorite noise. aside from the turbo spooling. and i guess a bov. and maybe compressor surge. and i guess a 5 cyl. oh hell i love every bit of em.
any progress on the fuel cut?

that is a super dumb idea. you do not want the ecu giving you timing for atmosphere while it is at 1 bar of boost. a little too much of that could end an engine. my guess it that it would probably just blow a head gasket.....oh it did.

yea well i did say for a pass or two just to verify thats what it is... didnt say to leave it that way.
dont think that the headgasket blew from incorrect timing. car only had 230k on it anyhow. so far as i can tell most of the car is as it was from the factory. besides it was acting up the day i bought the car anyhow. thanks tho!

sorry, i considered prefacing with "not to be a dick" but that can kinda read "look, im being a dick". so all due respect. i am really a stickler for ign timing. and i am really crazy about avoiding knock.
