Pretty neat Aaron. An o-ring seals the pump in there against the crimp on the 044s? Also, what keeps the lid on the surge tank? Looks neat and expensive!!

yes, it is o-ringed. and there is no lid, the surge tanks will be made solid. that is the mounting points for it. not pressure rated, but a surge tank is not under pressure anyhow.

it is really nice, and i am not at liberty to discuss what i paid for my two plates probably.... these will be released very soon though.

i can get more of just the end plates made for fuel cell use like mine i am certain.

Maybe if Hank could get the wife to hang out at the Lab and help he would be done.
:o After all she is going to share in a road trip to San Francisco with a loud exhaust, no air, coilover stiff suspension, and a car that MAY get done a few minutes before it's time to leave. Wait until she realizes there isn't any room in the trunk for her suitcases because of all the tools and parts.

Go ahead and pave the way for my Urq and your mom Hank. Maybe she will make the trip to the Bay area in mine. Well maybe not!!

Plus, if it did, that is the beauty of the v-band. It would rotate up :)

Exhaust is done. I ended up doing the thing in 3" 16 gauge 6061. I put two mufflers in, but together, they are about the size of a single muffler. I obviously had to make my own mufflers too, as nobody makes them. I bought stainless perforations, rolled them to 3" and welded them. I then captured them inside of cases I made, and then stuffed the volume of it with this ceramic insulation. It has an operating temp of up to 2100F, so it will be great for the exhaust. It wont burn out like typical glass. I am pretty excited to hear it fire up tomorrow. People have always harassed me about how quiet the car is, and how it needs to be opened up.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments on the manifold.

Hank, are you ready to fire it up today? If so you have done a ton of work in a very short time. If when you start it and it sounds way way good, remember the pattern for another set and where you got the ceramic insulation. :-D
Let me in on how it goes today. I'm at work, but will have my phone on.

Hank, what is the reason for a V-band on the TB flange?

Manifold looks good.

Dad, it is going to be stupid to take this car. I still probably will. I will drive it a bunch tomarrow to see if I am going to take the risk.

Peter, The v-band serves two purposes. It allows for a 75mm throttle body in the future with little fuss and does not require me taking the IM off, and the primary reason is that it allows for shorter IC piping, as I do not need to make long runs to be able to slip silicone couplers on, position the pipe and put them back. I know turbo cars are not your thing, but it is a pain. Wiggins clamps would eliminate this pain as well. I also like the v-band becuase it serves as a cam tentioner as well. I have already loved the ease of taking it off to access things below in a matter of seconds.

Peter, this is something you may be interested in! I have not run it yet to see how loud it is, but it is 6.5 lbs total... That would bump your Power:weight ratio a half a point!!!
