Who has a torque plate for the 5 cylinder? The local machine shop has one for a 4cylinder vw that I'm tempted to have them use on my audi.

Do this, just have them move it for every new cyl...

Ok, so given the head specs, how high should I look at setting my rev limiter?

7A cams
Stock springs
LW AFC lifters

7500 rpms?

Or should I just dig even deeper and buy some HD valve springs. I feel like I may only gain a few hundred rpms before the hydro lifters crap out so is it worth it?

That sounds reasonable. When you have the money, do some Ti Retainers and HD springs.

Duh? :-D Race gas #s on pump gas is where it's at! I'll start out with out the "bandaid" and see how it behaves, but I'm sure I'll end up running it.

It seems Hap has figured 8k is ok with my valvetrain setup

Nice, haven't seen those yet. Yea, I think for now 7500, maybe 7800 depending on how it acts on the dyno will be a good goal.

It'll run to 7500rpm no problem...CQ used to hit 7600rpm fairly regularly

A little update, got the intake all done. Also got the MR2 PS pump in, but have yet to wire it up so pics of that will be coming later. I'm still not sure I'm happy with the cast 90 that I welded onto the turbo housing, Samco makes a nice 2" to 2.5" transition 90 that I might use, but given the proximity to the header I think the life of silicone fittings here will be short lived. I'll have to see how things hold up and how well I can shield the area.

Looking forward to seeing how the PS pump works... where is it mounted... low and to the back I hope!

It's actually where the ABS unit used to be. I was looking at mounting it like Javad has his, but the stock radiator shroud is kinda in the way. it turned out really well. I'll get it wired up and take some pics.

Well, with your same setup (well, stock lifters, not afc) and HD springs I hit 8000 NO problem, I say you get the springs and let it rip, especially since changing them in the future is a biatch, and nothing like revving another 500 rpm to make the most of a big turbo.

Hey Javad -

Do you have pics of your electric PS system, comments on how it works, feels?

Here are some: http://www.80tq.com/gallery/Progress052904

Works wonderfully, feel is less assist than stock, buttery smooth, and all the room at the front of the motor makes me smile :D

Did you ever try to get the 034 output to shut it down at speed, or is it fine just hard wired to the power?

I guess it must work pretty well or Jim would not be planning to run it!

Yea, definitely considered it for a GPO, but frankly the best option would be wheel speed, and I haven't gone through the effort to set that up.

Ok, gotta ask, do you stock the springs yet? :D

Looks good Jim. Do you ever fiddle with flipping the intercooler so the inlet and outlet were at the bottow and plumbing it that way?

I used to have it like that, then I switched it, I still like it like this better, even if I have to have a cast 90 on the end of the turbo. I don't miss having to crawl on the ground of my parking garage to mess with boost hoses.
