Well, my fears have been confirmed. Just got the quote back at $1000 per set (just for the machining) for 5 sets and $800 for 10 sets (20 of each part).

He has given the drawings to other job shops nearby and is expecting a potentially lower quote. Also, I can machine the little sleeves myself which might save about $50 per set.

I have some hope for being able to do these for around $500 a set, but it would require probably enough parts to make 20 sets. Would you guys be seriously interested in this or not? If not, it's OK. I'll just pay quadruple that price to have a set made for myself so that my probably 150 or so hours of work weren't for nothing!

Still having trouble finding a shop to quote these reasonably. I am open to suggestions for job shops at this point. The best price I've been given so far is $1000 per set :(

If you send me your prints, I can reach out to some of my suppliers. I sub contract a decent amount of CNC quality work.

I've reached out to the university of Florida in hopes that some poor student might want to take on a challenging cnc project.

If they accept it, proceeds will be donated to the SAE team who are ranked 5th out of 530 teams internationally and 2nd in the US. Go Gators!

No they won't, but there are good options out there for you. I'm not a small chassis guy, so I cant point you in the right direction, but I'm sure someone here can.

For a street car any reason to get the offset tophats? (im a suspension noob)

Caster is always nice to have. Even if its just a street car. I don't really see any negatives to the offset ones besides the slightly higher price

Good news guys. I found someone who actually wants to make these. Same person who is making me custom billet main caps. Ur5cyl Audi nut just like us, but from outside of the US.

I will have a prototype set made for myself to test on the avant. If they come out well, I will have another set made for my sedan. I'm sure the cost will be high, but you guys will be welcome to join the party at that point if the cost of entry isn't too much to stomach for you. :)

There is finally some progress being made on these. They're actually going to get cut! I'll do a test set first, and then I can offer some for sale if there is any interest.

Just finding this thread now. Caseys 200 has had bad mounts since i picked it up and I have some URS ones i can try to put in but would be more interested in putting some of these in. Do it once and do it right. sounds like things are in the test stage still, which is fine as i wont be tearing into it till this winter after we close. Will subscribe :) good job guys appreciate all the work that has been put in to this project. Definitely appreciate being able to keep the old audi on the road

Happy to help! I think you should be able to use those stock urs mounts directly. Glad you're taking good care of that car :)

Just to prepare you guys, pricing on these is going to depend highly on the number of them which are produced. I will be paying far more than I think anyone would be willing to pay for these for the first few sets for testing. If we could get 10 sets committed to, the price starts to be somewhat feasible, but not really marketable except to the people who just want the best and don't care much what the price is... If we had 20 sets, I think we could be at a point where enough people would be interested. I will have to get another quote for that quantity, but I imagine I might be able to sell them for somewhere in the neighborhood of $450-500.

Not much profit, if any in it for that price, but you're getting a design which compromises nothing except for cost, and most likely some weight.

So with that said, who is still interested assuming testing goes well and that the benefits are able to be quantified?
