Made some progress today. Two of my brothers helped out with pulling fenders, putting on the new ones, cleaning the rain tray, and attempting to install the stock air box. I just need to figure out where to cut my bumpers to mash them together with resin and fibre to make the hybrid RS bumper

In the last pic I am pointing to where I think is a good place to cut to match up the RS bumper. What do you guys think?

How did the a4 resolution go?

The driveline resolved the one issue and I was able to take care of 80% of the exhaust issue. Hopefully Rick's muffler in Orem can solve that issue relatively cheap.

Seeing as there are a few people here that are more versed in fiberglass work than myself I thought here would be a good place to ask for some help/guidance. I have officially cut both the stock abs(?) and fiberglass bumpers to mold them together. I spoke with someone at West System http://www.westsystem.com/ and got the following list of necessary materials:

- G Flex 650 (16oz bottles) http://www.westsystem.com/ss/g-flex-epoxy/ ~$60.00
- Isopropyl Alcohol (for cleaning the abs) Already have
- Propane torch (to flip the molecules on the abs right before application) Already have
- 406-2 (to fill in the vertical seams) http://www.westsystem.com/ss/406-colloidal-silica/ ~$12.00
- Biaxial fiberglass tape. (4" wide and about 100' long) ~$15.00

Is this an accurate list of materials needed other than gloves and stir sticks? I'm flying a little (ok, maybe a lot) blind here so any help will be very appreciated. If it's easier to explain maybe on the phone just PM me. There are a couple things blocking me from BattleBorn this year and this is one of them now that I have two halves of bumper.

Correct. I'll post pictures of them both in cut form here soon. I will en up shortening the RS bumper in the middle and extend both sides of the RS.

Nice to see work progressing on the old girl. You have me confused on what you are trying to accomplish. You put B4 fenders on it, why are you trying to match up a B3 upper bumper to the B4 fenders? That FRP RS bumper is made to line up with the B4 fenders. Are you just trying to keep the original re-bar? If so there are lots easier ways to go about that. Back on the old Audiworld, Evilaudi cut the ends of the re-bar for width and pie-cut and re-welded new outer curves to fit inside an RS2 bumper. He cut and filled the turn signals cut outs - like I started to do. Then he made some brakets, like Jim Green has done, to hang the new bumper to the old re-bar.

I believe he is trying to replicate my bumper as you see here. Top half is the stock bumper, bottom is the RS2 or RS2 replica. It mounts with the stock bumper mounting points.

Too late, already cut stuff :( ill find a way to make this work if it's the last thing I do! From the looks of it there will be vertical cuts made as well. The RS bumper is wider than stock and the sides are shorter. This is going to be interesting challenge

Now you know why that nice bumper was just sitting in my garage. I went round and round on how to install it and never came up with the *lightbulb* moment. It's good to see fresh eyes trying to solve this.

Thanks Andy! This has been a super fun project so far and will keep getting better For my birthday coming up I requested a couple days to do whatever I want. Let's just say that massive amounts of carbonated goodness and no sleep will be to the benefit of the 90!

And just go at it with the bumper. Make sure bonding surfaces are clean and roughed up...wet the area with the epoxy and lay the glass layers and rewet as necessary. You can't really screw up too bad, since you already made the wrong cuts anyway, lol.

I have some bumper repair in my CQ thread that is not too different, even though it was ABS.

The geekers in general might not get that reference..... has to do with the strange customs and mormon religous beliefs.

Back to the topic at hand, here are some pics of where things are at the moment. I thing this may still be able to work. Can one use rivets on fiberglass? I was thinking of taking a 4" wide strip of thin sheet metal and riveting both sides together and then glassing over the top. I would use several short lengths to keep curvature accurate. Thoughts? The last image shows how much wider the RS bumper is than stock requiring the cut in the middle on either the stock or RS. I'm leaning more toward widening the stock?

Birthday party this weekend included a home made Audi piñata. It was a fun project and the kids loved all the candy. I put some regular candy bars in there for the adults too
